Randy, just got email from friend of mine that lives just SE of Dallas. Has had 3 1/2 inches just today before dark. Said it is just coming in waves. No telling what it is going to do in Oklahoma then supposed to come over in Arkansas again.
Tracker, looks like we are going to save you cajuns this time around. Don't know why but, the Corp has pretty well shut the gates on Texoma. TV says we'll be back over the spillway soon, if not already. No idea how much we got but, it was over my rain gauge which is 5". I'm thinking closer to 8" yesterday and it's still coming down right now. Just mist but, that's too much! Sure wouldn't want you guys to get wet!
Lot's of rain here Tracker, I am not sure when I will get to fish my home lake again. Was 30' high currently 20' high and now all this rain comes back!!! I am seeing lots of 2" totals, but the core has up to 11" of rain just in the last 24hr. About August we will be wishing for some of this rain!!
You all stay safe over there in Louisiana.
3.25" here in Harrah since yesterday. Saw I-35 is closed down around Arbuckle Mountains.
Redge, which of those monster lake's down there is your home lake?
Dr Nip, yes, I-35 is closed thru the Arbuckle Mts. Detour thru Ardmore to Dickson then north to Sulphur and back to I-35. Don't know about south bound lane.
Talk about shutting down the I-35 bridge over the Red River. Not due to water level, due to the debris accumulating around the piers and the chance it could take out the bridge. It's a mess down here to say the least. Texoma is at 639.79' and will go over the spillway later today...for the only time it has ever gone over the spillway twice in one year. And that will be the fifth since the lake was impounded. Even Lake Murray is now over the spillway by 3' as of an hour ago. And of course that means 77S is now closed around the lake.
Bob. . . Guess they will close the Roosevelt again thinking about heading down Monday but will probably just go 35 to 82 and up. . . Let me know if they close it. . . Thanks
Ya'll take care. My thoughts are with you fellas.
Wow!! We have had plenty this year, but you guys are getting pounded. I was recently at Toledo Bend and the closest town, Many,La. had gotten 10 inches in 8 hrs and water was running over the highway. I talked to some locals and that was a first. Good luck to you guys and release it slow please, or if fast, at least fast enough for a few fish to come our way!
Tulsa area got plowed today. Somehow I was up there in it while it had quit in the city.
We got 3.5" ne of Tulsa today. Good news is the rain is gone for awhile. Bad news, there is 228 billion extra gallons of water on Oologah alone, to be released and get back to normal. Bet it's August before things are normal.
It depends on where you are trying to get to on Texoma. Haven't heard of Roosevelt Bridge closing but, suspect it is. Lake rose above the spillway again last night and won't crest till next week sometime. Inflow is over 200,000cfs and outflow is only about 50,000cfs as of last night. Of course that means it's going to be rising for awhile now. Wa****a is at record high and all that has to come into Texoma. Heard yesterday that if we get no more rain it will be mid Aug before Texoma gets near normal pool again.
As you probably know, I-35 is closed and I have no idea when it will reopen. You may have seen the rock slide on TV? I hear Lake Jean Neustat is also flooded across the interstate too. There is even talk of closing the I-35 Red River bridge due to debris collecting around the piers. I would be very surprised if that were to happen.
Just been fishing below the dam Bob. . . . Lake fishing is just too tough to get access right now
I watched some of the guys below the dam back before the lake went over the spillway and they were only releasing about 10,000cfs. They had to use surf rods and still hold on for dear life! Not my kind of fun and think it would be hard to target crappie!
I have been on it fishing from the boat. . . You think riding a bull is a rush you should try fishing in 60000 cfs of water heading at you. . . Lol. . . I have put crappie fishing on hold. . .it's all about striper and catfish now.
