Any ramp?
Thanks btw
Small gravel ramp.
Becomes very weed choked during the summer.
Wonder why that milfoil can't grow on the flats? Hummm.
Gonna go have a gander
Tadpole,
Easy, because this stays full of water. The water level on the flats are five foot lower during the winter and the exposed mud flats freeze killing off the grass. I didn't find it on my trip, but there's a spring feeding into this somewhere. There should be some deeper water around it.
There some big bass but not that many large crappie. " fox's creek water shed "
i went by to have a look. It looks really fishy and clear even after all this rain, was fish chasing bait at the boat ramp and the grass isnt on top yet. I may try a canoe there this weekend
The crappie in this water have a very pretty color, seem to be mostly black crappie from what we have seen.
Sorry to contradict you but I don't believe that's the reason grass doesn't grow in the flats these days. The milfoil grew for years on the flats with the same draw-downs that we have today. Something else eradicated it and prevents it from coming back and there are many opinions as to what that is.
I believe it was sprayed at least once. It took over the flats in the mid 80's.
I remember when the grass was on both sides of the river. We would drift minnows over the grass in the mouth round island and mud creek. Catch all the crappie you wanted. People were taking so many bass they started filleting them on the boat to keep from getting catch. Fish and game started checking their cooler. This has been some back, and then the grass was gone also over night at least that the way it was seen. Everyone though tva killed it but I have a good friend that walked for tva who helped control the grass on Guntersville lake and said there was no way tva killed it. He was in management and the cost would have been huge to kill it like it was killed.
Many people have thoughts to what happened but no one is sure, this is sure boy was the fishing good.
