Two great days

Fished Santee both Thursday and Friday. The winds were a major issue on both days but like the Hartwell post, it didn't hurt the fishing. The fish weren't everywhere, but the areas that held fish, held bunches of them. I caught good numbers, and good quality on both days. Brush and grass both held fish, with brush in the 12 to 15 foot range the best. Jigs caught most of the early morning fish, with minnows dominating the midday bite. Limit catches were made both days, with around 100 total fish caught per day. Many of the crappie still sported their dark colors leaving me to believe they have only recently left the shallows.

Those are some beautiful fish Tim. They sure are still dark colored.

Those look GREAT !!! I know you are glad to be back on the water after your travels.

Glad that you're back in operation and have that new boat trained.

Way to go Tim! You had a really nice day today because it wasn't that hot at all. I wish I was able to fish during the week because these weekend trips are crazy! Oh well maybe 1 day. Congratulations on your 2 days of limits and thanks for sharing.

Those are nice fish Ink. Thurs we pulled out a few that were real black too. Some of the fish we cleaned still had a few eggs too. But all were on brush. Question for you, when yall throw back short fish, do you notice the bite slows down? If so, How do yall handle that?

I have also been catching some dark black crappie and they are pissed off to be hooked :) Lots of fun

That does happen, especially in clear water, I just live with it and find another brush pile. More fun to go exploring anyway. A DNR officer would not agree with your explanation........now son he would say.......Lol! You cannot have undersized fish period in the boat. Besides in hot water even with the livewell on full blast it stresses them a lot. Generally when the water gets above 70 degrees or so I ice the fish I want to keep then go back to the livewell in the fall. Kit

Yep, nice catch for sure! Yea that wind can really be a pain. Catch a fish in a brushpile and while you deal with that with your foot off the trolling motor you are all the way to the dam. Lol!

I have many brush piles to fish, if the bite slows, I simply go to another and return to a "hot" brush a little later. If the fish are moving and biting good I may fish a hot brush two or three times in a single day.

I agree with the wind blowing you around when dealing with a caught fish, but no trolling motor for me. I'm a run and gun fisherman, using only my outboard. When I crank it to take the boat off the trailer, it doesn't shut off until I trailer ithe boat when my day is done.

Hey, Tim you should see the bream my neighbor gave me this morning from Santee! Him and his buddies fished there a couple of days this week.They are nice!

Tim, you never cease to amaze me. The little I have been able to go, I can't seem to get much going on Murray

Just a little lucky to have a few spots that hold some nice fish on occasion.
