Been using sickles for 3 years or so. My favorite hook for crappie!
I hear yea!!
I buy jig heads with Matzou red #2sickle hooks. I love them. Want use anything else
I've been trying to convert all my cranks to Matzou red sickle hooks when I can find them. Red sickle on all my new jigheads also.
I pour my own and for a few others. I like em enough I bought 7000 3 years ago and have had to buy some more of a few common sizes. Can't beat em.
I like the sharpness of the sickle hook, but the barb leaves a lot to be desired. It lets a lot of minnows get off the hook. If the barb was bigger, it would be a better hook.
Not a fan
Eagle Claw has red sickle hooks Now!

Welcome from Alabama. For the past four years I have been using them 80% of the time for crappie. For Bream and Bluegill I still use a #8 Mustad gold hook.
I like the black chrome sickles, but I like the new EC's my wife got me for Christmas and they're sharp too, although you have to open them up a bit.
Sickles unless there is wood involved. Then I go to litewire jigs.
Been using and selling them for years and just can't bring myself to use anything else.....if it aint broke.
I sell 1 straight hook for every 1000 sickle hooks.
started using them several years ago, really like them.
Oops....posted another sickle hook thread B 4 I saw this one.......
Attachment 203612The barb on this one held this fish pretty good even being hooked outside the mouth.
I make my own marabou jigs that I use year round. Tried 100 sickles and from what I have seen they break in the middle of the bend; especially in the winter. I am bronze man.
I have been using the Sickle hooks for about 10 years and yes there has been some issues and even some that got bad heat treat that broke easy, but these didn't last on the market long and then back to good ones. There is no hook on the market this sharp and for this price! I love Gamakatsu hooks so much, but the price is not so good. Also with the Sickle hook you loose less fish because most are hooked right in the hard part of the top of their mouths. I have wanted to quit them over the breaking thing, but nothing out there will make me happy enough to change. I have seen and did the finger nail test on the Li'l Nasty Eagle Claw that lots are talking about, but they are not as sharp!
Bronze is the last color of Sickle hooks I want, they rust easier and that was the first color that broke on me even while tying them, LOL! So mostly Black is what I use most, but some Gold too.

I used them for several different sizes in my jigs, but have had a problem with them breaking in all the sizes I made. Will not buy them again.
