Something I thought I would never see.

Today, while parked at wolf creek state park, my window was shattered and my truck was broken into. Several valuables were stolen along with my wallet and a good chunk of cash. Items from my center console were strung all over the truck and outside on the parking lot. I never thought I would have to worry about this kind of crap at lake Shelbyville, especially at a ramp like wolf creek. I'd like to think it wasn't a fisherman who did it, but I don't know many people who just cruise around to wolf creek and stroll around. The whole situation sucks, but I guess iv learned a lesson. Be careful of what's in your vehicles guys (nothing valuble of mine was in plain sight)... nothings safe anymore it looks like.

I hope your trailer is also locked onto your truck. Nothing like coming in from fishing and pulling up to the ramp and your trailer is gone.

Last Thursday had a buddy go and get my truck at ninth street ramp and a guy was sitting in it! Luckily I don't keep any valuables in it! Best of luck birdman!!

that sucks! I put in at Wolf 90% of the time I fish (about 3 nights a week) and usually forget to take the keys out of my truck. Thanks for the heads up, I am going to have to be much more careful. I had a buddy of mine in a larger city tell me he doesn't even bother to lock his vehicle anymore, saves him a lot of broken glass. I doubt it was a fisherman, I am surprised by how many vehicles cruise through these areas when I am bank fishing and not out in the boat.

Talk about ballsy. During the week sure, but there are still a load of people going thru that area all the time not to mention a park ranger. Sucks man. I wouldn't put it past a jealous low life, start parking vehicles in the most conspicuous spots I guess. Unfortunately that is the problem with posting on sites like this, people who know the area can figure out where you go, what your vehicle looks like, etc. If the want to do something, they can and will.

I was the only vehicle in wolf creek last year and someone threw a half full bottle of beer into the side of my 03 envoy and made a big dent( tho only one on it). I figured someone must have been pissed for some reason. Sorry Birdie.

Sorry to hear this. If your truck was the only one broken into, I would think the person knew who the truck belonged to. Crappie wizard if I found someone sitting in my truck, an ambulance would be required for said person.

I had my trailer tires slashed at Carlyle a couple years ago. They were mad that I posted on this site. I just wished they could of been man enough to talk to me about their problem instead of taking the sissy way out. Most frustrating thing was the Sherriff didn't seem to care!! Sorry that good guys like you has to deal with idiots!!

Unfortunate situation. Just have to be more careful I guess. Lots of replacements coming out of my pocket on this one.

how ignorant. I hope it wasn't one of us. They'll be found out. Make sure this is reported to local and state police as well as IDNR. There may be surveillance video that can provide a lead to get this idiot. All of us need to be on alert and report suspicious activities to local police/sherriff. Birdman, PM if there is anything I can do.

I've been fishing out of there the past week and have seen a number of strange people (other than me) drive through with no boat attached. Also, a number of people setting up camp and fishing right on the ramp! As you know, I have been known to fish overnight and leave my vehicle and trailer at the parking area. At least with my Jeep there aint much in there of value!

I hate to hear about this.I hate for your loss and I hate to think that we have people like that around here.After this happens its never the same.It would be great if they were caught but not very often.

This stuff starts happening about the same time camping starts. There was alot of theiving going on around my place a couple years ago until I stayed up one night and seen people walking down my road, and I live out in the country, and I fired some shots in the air with my 357 and things all got better.

No kidding if I saw someone sitting in my truck they would soon be limping.

Hate to hear about that happening to anyone.go park there again with $100 bill on the dash and hide a couple trail cameras then put there picture all over town. maybe you can find out who it is by the weekend and we can form a cdc posse

Yep nothing worse than a thief I had someone help themselves to my tackle box at coon creek boat ramp. That cost me a pretty penny and I still havnt replaced it all. Sorry for your loss buddy. I hope u find something out

I think the guy sitting in someone else's truck my be a good lead on who did this. You may want to get ahold of Tyler and the police with a description. I don't think he was sitting in there to see if he wanted to buy a truck like that.

same thing happening at mark twain.. lots of plates missing on trucks and trailers. be sure to lock yourmtail gates is u can . priced one lately.

Thinking there just might be some money to be made in the "onboard closed circuit camera" business. Catch the low life in the act. Sorry.

Sorry to hear about your break in. It happens here in Indiana also. Wish there was a sure fire way to catch those kind of low life thieves. Would be nice if law officers had the time to set some traps and catch and lock them up for a long time.

Well I was parked at opossum creek Sunday early 6 am. Boys and I got back to load at 11 am , one of my side boards was missing ? Un bolted and gone , I have nylock nuts on the bolts so they don't come loose it didn't fall off Odd they only took one but maybe they heard us at the dock ?

Makes a guy want to set up a trail cam watching his rig every time he goes fishing. It would sure feel good to put the hurt on those SOB'S.

A couple years back I was about to leave Bo-Woods when I saw a fella attempt to park a big three axle trailer between two other trailers. (Bad idea). He pulled his trailer up on top of one of the others causing quite a bit of damage. The guy got out and looked it over then went on to park away from everyone else. He never left a note or anything. After he left in his boat I put a note on the damaged rigs window with the license number of who did it. I also stopped at the sheriffs office in Sullivan to report it. I sure hope he got caught.

Was at the vile few weeks back pre-fishin for crappie usa. was loading up and noticed my license plate was gone and appeared to be ripped off. figured it just broke yadi yada. well haven't had the boat out since then and was checking the tires today since they looked funny for springfield crappie club tourney this Saturday. low and behold both trailer tires were slashed on the sidewalls............now that coulda been an ugly wreck!!! scumbags.

It sure has become a sad day when you're out in your boat and in the back of your mind you are wondering if some scum low life is messing with you're truck or the boat trailer. These scum suckers are now getting professional with their thieving. Probably reading the boards now getting more in tune with your movements. Knowing when and how long you are away from your rig's and your house. Wouldn't it feel good to catch these scum bags in the act, tie a rope around their ankle and drive around the lakes parking lots and show the other scum who might be thinking of doing some thieving just what fishermen do with their kind? I'd bet we would see a whole lot less thievery.
