Team CK, Crappie Assault Force !
Mission: to teach Brettw the nuances of long lining for crappie while at the same time, putting a hurting on the crappie population of Lake Wylie
The day began like many other, CK texting me, telling me how he's going to hit the boat and inviting me to tag along. Only this time, I got permission from Mrs. Brettw to go !!!
With trepidation and fear of ramp overload, we hit Ebenezer with full force ! Slipping the CK Crappie Tracker into the water with ease and not having to wait at all. CK, hammered down the 140 hp and we were off, heading for his hot spots.
After stopping to help several bikini laden vessels with directions and safe boating tips, we arrived at Crowders Creek.
CK setting up 6 rods with various colors of Road Runners, all 2 ,1/8th and 4 , 1/16th oz. Pretty soon I experienced my first crappie on a long line and managed to reel it in without losing it even though CK has all his rods set up backwards for most experienced fishermen.
After several fish, CK decided to go deeper switching to 4, 1/8 oz and 2, 1/16 oz, as most of our fish were hanging deep. This he astutely observed, was likely due to the many boats in the creek, AGAIN (sigh), several of which were bikini laden, who seemed to be taking more than a casual interest in us.
We pressed onward like true fishermen and ended up with quite many dozen of fish. We didn't find the 2 lbs + but we did rather well, finishing off the day with quality Blue Moon cold ones and CK managing to take a whiz into water bottle with a very small opening, but it was not a problem for him!
Thanks CK,
Here is a pic of 1/2 of Team CK,
ps, we are ready to take on ANY team on the lake !!!!
