Anyone seeing bream on beds yet? What's your favorite artificial bait? I was thinking about tying some black Roadrunners or getting a couple roostertails.

A fly rod and a two fly setup!! Hard to beat seeing those flies being slammed
What's a two fly setup? Picture?
x2 what sinkermaker siad them small small floating minnows are fun but make sure youve got a good pair of needlenose or change the small treble to a single hook.
Not yet, but tonight is the full moon, water temp is right. This coming week should find them on the beds . I like a single hook roostertail, small crankbait, even a jig. Just about anything works when they are on the bed. Just take a few, then go find another bunch of them. You can clean out an entire bed of fish. When I meet folks on the lake, hey you do'in any good. Why sure I have caught six carp. Chuckle. Kit
Butch I like to use a Bream Killer with a tag line of 24'' and will tie on a fly I make. Most of the time the tag fly will get killed by the bream.

Just got back from Murray, nice day with no wind. Fished the clear water, Beards creek, Ballentine, and mouth of Bear Creek. Also two biggest Gills were caught off Bomb Island, good flat next to very deep water on the west side. Found some fish on beds, but small groups and quite deep, by deep in 5 to 7 feet of water so you cannot see the beds. I was using a roostertail to locate them with and when one would flash up I would work the area real good with a jig. Fish I found were on the south side of the creek arms on the secondary points on the west side of the points. No fish found way back in the cuts or coves. All fish more or less next to deep water. Over a hundred caught if you count green sunfish and white perch, kept 8 for supper. Off to check out the Little Saluda tomorrow. One crappie, about six inches long, at 14 feet by those docks in beards creek where that sailboat marina is on the south side. Crappies are evidently out in open water, did not look for them today. Kit
Thanks, will give them a try on Wateree tomorrow and let you guys know if I find them!
Maybe I just never noticed it before but I seen something I thought was strange this morning. After putting the boat in the water right after daylight I noticed all those tiny bream you see along the edge was tearing the shoreline up flipping around. The moon was still up and it looked like those little guys were possessed by it. Now those arent the bream you catch off beds but it looked like the time of the month (year) and the bright moon definitely had a effect on them.
WHAT KIND OF BEDS DO BRIM USE??
Yea.........Thats about what I figured, but just had to ask, the whole time feeling like a big bluegill getting reeled in nonono. Good one though!
A bucket full of Gills. Attachment 202060 Who am I? Attachment 202061 21 Big Gills fill up a five gallon bucket.
May 6. 2015. Water temp at 7 a.m 75.9 degrees, and 79.4 surface temp at 2 p.m.
Fish are on the beds but it is fairly random, one here, three there, another here, no large beds found. I went into a deep water creek arm today and found the bigger Gills in the first two thirds of the creek arm, working the cuts off the main arm and no further back into the cuts than halfway. No fish of any size were found in the backs of any of the cuts. All of the fish came basically from around docks next to deep water. The the bigger Gills are spawning around the dock posts. All fish were taken on an 1/8 fire tiger roostertail. Crappie are suspended about 16 feet out where you can find schools of bait in deep open water. Did not chase them today, may do that next week. Kit, that a Fast Craft or High Tide?? Always liked that style of boat.

Nice catch and report Kit.
