This is the first time I've fished every chance I could in April and experience how the fish transitions into and though the spawn. I've always heard it's arguably the best bite of the year and I have to say it's got my vote. The bite is so aggressive they just hammer the bait unlike the post spawn bite when you just see your line drift off to the side or your pole tip lift up slightly or notorious light winter bite where the just pick it up and set there. Noticed that some of the female had laid their eggs so I decided to go check out some post spawn holes and they were loaded with dinks caught four nice specks about 12" a piece another week or so and it should be good! Yesterday was pretty tough fishing with the wind at times we leaned some valuable lessons on dealing with it managed to catch some good fish and had a blast!
