4/23/2015 Belefonte/ Town Creek

WasWas in the water a 6:00 am the wind was steady at around 15 mph and gusting pretty hard. Water Temp was 69.4 . Didn't find the fish over the stumps as has been the norm for the last couple of weeks. What fish were on the stumps were scattered, tight to cover / structure. The fish that did come off the stumps hit after the jig bumped into the structure. As it hit I would let it fall and they would hit. Moved around and searched for fish. Found a school of fish in 7 fow and pretty thick. Dropped an Arkie Stealth bouy as the wind blew me by and anchored down wind. Hits were for the most part aggressive, on occasion the bite was subtle. Most were 9" and 10" fish with a few 7" and 8" fish mixed in. All total I caught 47 fish, and kept 8 for the table. One with half its tail missing, two that got the jig in there gills. Two that got engulfed by a big flathead cat right that the boat. Water was clear enough I could see him swim up behind and take the struggling crappie. The day started with a spectacular sunrise over the mountains that reminded me why I love to be on the water so much. All fish were caught on Bobby Garland Baby Shad in Monkey Milk rigged on a chartreuse 1/16 jig head, casting and counting down.

Good report and a great day on the water Jack.I got down your way about 2 fished to 6 caught catfish and bream and 1 crappie stayed busy had fun a lot of action.

I tried the gills for a little bit the next morning after the storms and they were not doing much. I only had one. A few other people were not doing good either. Maybe you got them all or they were just shut down for a little while. I knew they should be there by now. I love eating those gills. Did you get them on worms or crickets?

Little bit of both went Saturday morning and evening had over 100 most on worms they just now cleaning off beds

were you fishing from the bank or a boat?

Boat tried some new spots had to get out of the wind from where we were Thursday. Finally figured out how they wanted it .Thursday was on the bottom Saturday it was on floats.

I tried the causeway from the bank and usually do well there but they were not running in there for me the other morning. I may give them a shot Saturday from the boat. I hope they are still there. I tried a couple old spots of mine weekend before last and they were not there, however I have seen a few boats sitting on those spots the last couple days so maybe they moved in.

The shell cracker are in full swing lots of female and males hanging together.females was about to pop last Saturday most of the bull nose or red Brest have been males just now cleaning off the beds headed out in a bit will see what happens this morning.

Was real scattered this morning only ended up with 26 good ones several short very picky today hard to find and hard to fish had to fish 3 different spots twice to get those all males.
