What are your guys thoughts on when the bluegill will begin to spawn on kentucky lake?
1st full moon in May.
that's because in Kentucky they like their MOON SHINE :Rofl
Will I be good on the 18th? Its a new moon.
That's what I'm hoping mrdux just not sure water temp is going to be good bye may 3. Air temps are forecasted to be below normal for the next 10 days. Crappie should still be descent if the gill and redear aren't fired up. Will be fishing April 29th through May 3
I too hope that is it. Will be there 4th looking for some gills, crappies, redears.
They're starting to creep up slowly into the shallows as of Saturday. The larger males are still staging in deeper water and won't move for another week at least. We did find one group of nests right on the waters edge, otherwise still scattered. Another week and a half and it should be getting good.

Were do you all stay when going down?
Talked to a fellow yesterday in Ledbetter, and he said he had caught several bluegill. He didn't say how big they were, but while we were talking he caught a nice red ear.
A little late but I found some really good gills in the stakebeds last weekend. Didn't matter what bay I was in, they were there. I also checked areas where I normally get them spawning but they weren't there yet. Popeye jig and waxie put them in the boat

Me and Momma gonna Be down there Friday through next week so MR Dux and Whiskers watch out for Killum and his Girl!
We will try to swing by I'll see if I can get a pic or two to ya as well. Of Maggie not the wife. LOL
For what it's worth, yesterday in the afternoon we caught 23 in about an hour in 3' water. during the morning only a few we picked up in about 10'. So it's getting started. used wax worms and crickets on jigs.
Talked to some other fishermen they did good later in the day with catches in the 50s.
You guys had better catch what you can before Chaunc gets back down. Once he shows up, the gills and redears will be in dire straits.
Word of wisdom to perch jerkers. If you find a bed of gills/redears, stay back away from it as far as possible. The water is clear and there is not a spookier fish on any lake than a redear with a boat close to their bed. Anchor and make long casts. It will improve your catch greatly.
Don't worry wilber there will be plenty left when we go home.
How's the bite? Heading down in the morning can't wait!! Shellcrackers bitting good?
Had to do alot of searching, should be better when you get there. We only had 15 shellcrackers, all males. Caught a few females, let them go. Good luck
