Honestly the biggest you can afford. Do you have a price range in mind? Theres a couple people on C.Com that will give you a fair price.
I figured 600-800 just starting out. It will be the first one I've ever bought and have no clue about them. Jigginpolejoe has been helping me but still recommended I get on here and see what I get
Welcome to the board, Opie. Contact Brian at BBG Marine for the best deals and lowest prices. He'll tell you what you need and give you the best price.
Ok. Thanks
BBG is who I bought mine from. He is easy to deal with. Sounds like a Hummingbird 998 might be what your looking for but I'm sure not an expert on them.
Are they fairly easy to figure out?
I agree that you should get the best unit that you can afford, but I dont think a 998 is in your price range. A good used one maybe. You will just be disappointed with the smaller units, particularly if you are looking for side imaging. It is nearly impossible to make anything out on the smaller screen. I would recommend Lowrance over Himmingbird. Much better units in my opinion. Clearer di and si images, and overall better features and functions. And no, they are not "easy" to use, but you will get the hang of it, and after a while, you wont know how you ever got along without it. Check out the electronics forum on here and read up on it. It will also help to go with someone that has one and can show you a few things. Good luck!
What model would you recommend of the lowrance Cmj?
Friend of mine IKENI has had several. He has Garmin now and loves it. He says it is easy to use. 93si
