Black Bayou Hosston
Finally had a nice weather day on a weekend, so took my youngest out to Black Bayou in Hosston. Started off beating the banks thinking I'd find perch there, but only picked up a bass and one of those bream I call a goggle eye...probably not the right name for them. After that, we moved out to the trees fishing for bream and found one here and there. Not fast, but had a good time with her. We ended up with about 10 big bream and a couple of bass.
Only saw one small wasp nest in a tree....but nearly put her under a snake on a limb about 2 feet above us before I saw it. :yikes I'd been looking, but didn't see him soon enough. And about a million turtles, that she wanted to go catch! lol
Also watched another guy pull in a big bass...he weighed it and said just over 8 lbs. I got a few pics of him with it on his phone as he was going to release it back.
Anyway, here's a few pictures from today. Too tired to go out and take a full box picture right now. :)

great report......thanks for the awesome pics.....

Great post and pix. I'd rather fight the snake than wasp's. In the pix, the hanging one is a goggle eye(warmouth) and you have 2 chinquapin's (shell cracker or red ear) and a perch (bluegill). And some nice bass. And a cute girl!!! Good job Dad.

Thx guys. Ended up with 4 bluegill, 1 goggle eye, 2 bass, and 4 chinquapin (that we're big enough to filet). Plenty for a meal, so looking forward to it later today.
I was proud of her for sticking it out with me all day. She hasn't wanted to fish much due to lack of bathrooms around lakes. Lol didn't have to stop once though.

Great pictures, those bream are real nice.

Thanks for the report. Congratulations on catching supper. That is a beautiful lake. I used to love to fish it when I lived in Cotton Valley.

Thanks all. Charliee I was hoping to put her on a bed somewhere, but we only caught the one bass and a couple of small bream shallow, so we moved out to the trees about 5 ft deep where we found them scattered. Just before we were about to leave someone told me the crappie were still around the trees too...but then, the lake is full of trees! :) Hope to go back soon though.

From the pictures it looked like you were around Hog Island at one time. I can usually find them scattered in there. I was hoping to go this Friday but it looks like the weather will prevent that. However we are planning on being tere the following weekend and taking the grandson on his first fishing trip.
Hope yo get to make it back soon. hope we can run into you there sometime.

Not bad at all Scott! Thanks for the pictures! And take that girl every chance you get. Mine actually wanted to go with me yesterday so we made a quick afternoon trip. They grow up WAY to fast!!!
-
Right now we have plans for a family outing next weekend up there. We want to take our grandson who is almost three on his first fishing trip. For Christmas I gave him his lifetime hunting and fishing license so I hope to get hims started using it.

I looked at the weather a little while ago, and it looks like the weather would be a lot more pleasant than it has been. lol That's a great Christmas gift by the way! I should get my daughter one. My son doesn't care to fish, so I'd never get my money worth. :)

Well you better do it before she turns 14. From birth to 4 it is $200. Then it goes to $300 until they are 14. After that it jumps to $500 until they turn 60 then it drops to $50.00. So better get it now for her.

funny how the price goes up as the # of years it's 'useful' goes down....gov't!
