I was thinking the same thing about it being a mess. I plan on putting in at nemo or state park and sticking around 20 fow over brush. As it warms maybe try in the back half of haverstick around the timber. Not sure just a starting point.
Dan, I ran up there for a little bit Saturday afternoon and it was tough. The water color from L-4 to Pittsbburgh was chocolate milk, the premium stuff, not the skim lol. We fished brush piles from 10ft of water to 40ft and I don't know what to tell you to get a bite. The few we had there was no pattern to them, just had to be ready when they hit it.
Yeah I figured the only way I was going to catch any fish is just jump over board and spear them! White Flag Icon But the main thing is to check out the boat and check me out too. Boat hasn't hit the water in over 3 years. And with these new diabetic meds I am on sometimes just standing up is really fun. I have someone going with me that can handle my boat if I need it. I have some minnows and I have some old spots where I have done ok in the past in muddy water.
I was hopping someone would tell me about a hot spot! LOL!
When I used to live on Pomme the times I got in a boat to fish didn't matter what the conditions were. It was more the condition of my deep freezer and the lack of crappie in it. And that was when I had a 9.9 Merc and a 16 foot V Bottom Boat. My boat was so small that on windy days I would just drive around and launch in a cove to stay out of the wind and the main lake. There are some areas over around Nemo that I have good luck in the past with muddy water.
Since I got this Lowes 175 in 2008 I am not afraid to run from one end of the lake to the other. Been several times I would put in at the State Park Marina in Pittsburg and run down to Bolivar Landing. For some reason I just hate the drive into Bolivar landing.
Be careful, good luck and have fun!
The white bass are biting up around P16. Caught some nice ones today, only two keeper crappie though. Saw a gentleman yesterday come in with a nice stringer of whites. They were liking a small chrome shad imitation. If it rains a lot, that area will not be fishable. Hope you find some hungry fishes☺
I would say once you get there go ahead and drive another hour or so north and launch at Bucksaw. Then get the bobber rod out and cast the banks. :biggrin
Wear your PFD!!!
Good luck on your trip and I am glad some one is going with you.
That's what I wanted to do but its the first trip out in over 3 years. And I think Marcus and his wife wanted to camp out at Pomme. And I want someone that can handle my boat with me.
Plus if I am going to Truman I want a little more cash on me and without someone being with me!:biggrin. You know there is times Jigging15 I just don't remember where that turn off is to Bucksaw. I have had to drive on up to Clinton and turn around up there in a parking lot!:Rofl
Just remember Jigging15, they cant trace cash. And you know you can't return things after they have been used!!!:fish
Thank you!
Already put a new rearm kit in it! Now I am good as long as the green light is on or until 2020. Heck I like wearing mine, I know that sounds kind of stupid. But many of times I have fished all day on Truman and drove home 90 miles and forgot I had it on!
have everything completely legal. The agent that patrols the lindley arm is out in full force. I'm getting kind of sick of the guy to tell you the truth. I know he has a job to do but he has checked me 5 times between this and last year. He thinks he is sneaky in a civilian fish and ski with the top up so you can't see him. 1 more time and i might get a lippy and tell him what I think.
Good luck to you.
It's dangerous business to attempt to exercise your first amendment rights in the presence of the praetorian guard. Be careful.
Ask him to put a stamp on the back of your hand so you don't have to get checked every time you go in and out of the lake.. I am sure he will just LHAO...!
Oh just GREAT! I THOUGHT WE GOT RID OF THE BIGGEST JERK AGENT IN MISSOURI WHEN VADAR RETIRED! I guess I am going to have to go up there and introduce myself! Don't worry if he checks me more than once he will get taken down. We used to have one of the best agents in Missouri up there! If Cal Jones checked you more than twice or three times heck all he was doing is just stopping by to tell you to move to another spot, use a different color and to wish you luck. Heck I got a lot of great fishing reports from Cal! I run legal to the point that I used to even call the coast guard and have my boat inspected every year. Last time Vadar checked me it was under the Nemo Bridge and he had some trainee with him. I was in my boat alone. I told Vadar that if the kid or him wanted to check my livewells then get out of their boat and come aboard! Because I might have a hidden livewell under my drivers seat!
And I don't want anyone to think I am anti law enforcement either! Ray Tipton the Sheriff of Hickory County has one of the best over all group of guys working for him. The guys are under paid due to a low tax base and they get by without a lot of fancy equipment. And years ago I was on a Volunteer Fire Department up there. And numerous times I have had them tell me that if I needed them to go buy and check in on my elderly folks up there during winter bad roads just yell. Most of the guys know that I live in Springfield now and its a little over a hour drive up there for me.
I can remember years ago we had us a new Highway Patrol officer up there. I had been helping his wife with her computer over the phone. I was sitting in my pickup parked by him just checking on him and his wifes computer. I remember Ray pulling up and he got out and came up to talk with me. It was funny Ray told the new patrolman, hey if you ever get into trouble when you pull someone over and see DW just flag him down. Because DW usually has enough ammo to keep them at bay until I can get there and bail you out Mr Trouper! So then Ray decided it was time to take inventory of what I had in my pickup to prove his point!
You might have to get a different boat.:dono
Years ago I used to get checked nearly every week on Pomme, usually by "DARTH" but not always.
Motor blew on that boat so bought a different one and never got checked again. :scratchhead
Come to find out later there was poacher that was running fish traps and had a boat that looked like my old one.
By the way Vader nailed him and sent him up to the "Pen" for a while.
