Crappie are shallow there already and good numbers are being taken. Saw one caught today that had to have been atleast 15". The black crappie have some really cool coloration to them right now.

Been catching them shallow for the last few weeks. Seems the better bite is in the evening....last couple hours of daylite.
Today they would bite as fast as you feed them throughout the day but would shut off for an hour or so then pick right back up.
Darn it, didn't get to go. A buddie back from the east coast on a week of leave needed a hand putting new electronics and trolling motor on his new rig. Kinda kept me busy all day, no time for fishing:{
It was pretty dead up there today. Seen one fish pulled out all day.
I caught two early, then zippo!!
We were out there for a good part of this afternoon and had zero luck. :(
Had a pretty good day Saturday. Had to work for 'em but they were there! Went back into the brush by the dam, didn't catch any shallow. But this was coming off a pretty cold day or two also. Most we caught were right around 8-10". Threw everything under 10 back to get bigger!

Wiggy, which boat were you in?
nice catch, good eating
Little update, went out Monday night and sucked, picked up 1 eye and 1 crappie while trolling for saugeye after I gave up on the brush. The wind picked up towards dusk and nearly blew me off the lake!
Went again Wednesday night and walloped 'em again! Caught enough between Saturday and Wednesday to fry 'em up for my son's birthday party tomorrow.
They were in a little different pattern, they hit hard on crappie thunders and bobby garlands and then stop and decide they wanted minnows instead. We thought the bite shut off about 7PM but kicked back into a feeding frenzy for another half hour or so on minnows and once the sun went down they were done like always at OSFL. Weird trait that lake has, can never get anything to bite after sunset.
Oh and I'm always in a '69 Razorback with a 75HP Johnson on it. New interior and battleship gray top coat. Didn't get to the bottom coat so it's puke green still. There's a reason I call it Frankenstein :)
If you ever see me out there say hi, I'm friendly unless my buddy is out fishing me :cheers2
Have any trouble getting a boat in or out. Last time I was there it was a little tricky and they warned of falling of the edge of concrete. Is it full?
Probly depends what you're running for a rig. Wouldn't even think about tryin to launch my Triton off the trailer over there. Don't think it would float off the tandem axle trailer:{
I can get my Ranger 617 off ok, but had a heck of a time getting it back on, of course it was dark and the wind was howling. Might have to try it again. Wiggy I was out there Wednesday night, (I think?) LOL. Didn't do very good from the bank, did you wallop them in the brush?
Yep they were up on the brush on the dam but pretty picky. Had something happen that's never happened before, about 30 minutes before sunset the bite turned off, then turned back on in about 10 minutes (schools?) and nailed dink after dink after dink. All males. Before that all females!
My fishin buddy and I have decided that they have unionized, and take more breaks than they should :biggrin
My boat is 16' but single axle trailer. I fell off once last year. The trick is to go on the south side of the ramp and kinda angle it toward the dam a little bit. I've seen some pretty big rigs getting on and off fairly easy. Saw a really expensive bass boat there a few weeks ago that was 18-20' and got in and out quicker than I could!
I don"t want to even imagine dropping mine off the end of the ramp. I'm thinking it would be a real nitemare! At 18.5 with the big Opti and a kicker, I still don't think I'd be able to float my deep vee off.
