The average on the system of ponds I fish is about 8"...this male went 9.5"

Gills are staging up to start feeding before the spawn, crappies are just wondering into coves near dark to feed

Nice one. Got one similar to that in a farm pond the other day. Got some nice crappies and a few bass also. Have you tried the pits in Muscatine yet this year or are they fished out already?

Here's another 9.5" (female) gill from today....I've been on a quest to get a 10" master angler gill for almost 2 years now and can't manage anything over the 9.5" range. Yesterday it was sunny and 70+ degrees which triggered a huge mosquito hatch. The gills came in shallow (6" of water) to snag larva near the surface before they flew away. A cold front came through and left those gills staged on the deep side of shallow weed beds, easy pickensAttachment 197659
