Gene ... Here's 2 options ...
Option 1 ...
*Add AS SIDB Y cable and another HB xducer capable of 2d to the 859 DI ... (Any HB xducer with the "House shaped" connector) ...
*Put this extra xducer in the boat (out of the water)
*Set "Max Depth" under the Sonar tab to 10ft below actual water depth ...
This will keep the unit from going into what Tom calls "bottom search mode" ... (From not getting a depth reading from the additional xducer in the boat) ...
Option 2 ... (If the 2d is going bad in the XNT 9 DI T anyway) ...
*Remove pin #6 in the XNT 9 DI T (200kHz/455kHz 2d) ...
*Set "Max Depth" under the Sonar tab to 10ft below actual water depth ...(same reason as option 1) ...

I'm fairly certain the DI in the 859 can get everything it needs from the DI piezo ... And only the ping rate is determined by the 2d depth ... Except setting the "Max Depth" in manual forces the unit to
not wait for a 2d return echo from a "bottom it will never see" with the 2d xducer in the boat ...
