Line color
Those of you who use fluorescent line, like the yellow or orange. Do you tie directly to your jig or use a clear leader?
I don't fish dirty water. Obviously if I fished dirty water it wouldn't matter. I would like to try the hi viz line.
Thanks guys.

I ues the yellow and tie directly can't tell any difference than when I used clear mono.

I'm sure your gonna get several answers,so here is mine.I do not like line I cannot see,and watch. Many times that's the best indication of a bight.I use line that contrast the water in most conditions, plus it helps in re tying lures.I ice fish, and use schooly rods and reels, they come filled with yellow 4lb test, many fish have decided yellow line won't bother them.
I do see a fair amount of yellow line in the crappie section at Wally world, but I can't recall who promotes it.

I have used the red cajun line and have not had problems.:dono

I use high vis yellow and tie direct
-
Stren original clear blue florescent 4,6,8, . since 1970 .
-
I tie direct ,never have had a problem.
-
high vis, tie direct to jig. But do not fish clear water. If I did fish clear water, still think I would use high vis
-
Never a leader, except twice a year I fish a very clear strip pit for gills, then I use a leader.

Hi vis 6lb. Clear or dirty water for me tied directly for most of my applications!

This depends on how far down you can see your jig if you're using minnows probably won't make a difference. I fish some lakes you can see your jig 6 ft deep. I would not even try it in water that clear. But a roll of line is 3 or 4 $ try it we've all wasted more on less.

IMHO ... the fish don't care what color line you're using, because they aren't biting your line ... they're biting what's on the end of it.
Extremely clear water ... fish can easily be spooked by something other than line color, and usually are.
Personally, I use hi-vis mono and braid ... and I tie direct to my hook or lure, with both. I've fished hi-vis next to clear/blu mono and the fish did not seem to show any preference of one over the other.

Always high vis and no discernible difference in bite. I even use 15lb high vis braid and it works great!
I would think that in really clear water, like a personal pond or lake then you might try clear mono 4 lb (smaller the better). But I bet you can test it yourself and find that you get the same amount of bites with high vis as clear or green or red.

Thanks guys,
The line I was going to use was the suffix Elite in hi viz yellow. Or trilene sensation. I used the sensation for walleye. But I used clear.

Stren Hi Vis, I must be able to see the line, I use in both clear and dirty water, makes no difference, except to me. do use a leader if fishing deep water, I have a slip weight above the jig, just to get it down quickly & feel bite better.
