Is this crappie under bait fish?Attachment 195417
Wrong pic looks to be all crappie in this one do you think?

This is first pic meant to post. Is this crappie under bait fish or what's your thoughts?
Could be ... Sure could be ...
Did Ya get a bait down there to them ...??
Rickie
Honestly, to me it looks like White bass the way they are hugging the bottom with no structure around in 30 FOW. If you dropped a crappie jig and no takers then that might be the case. In the econd to lst pic it could be this whites coming up towards the school of shad.
Didn't do no good on last pic I tried them but nothing.
This is pic of what I no is crappie or that I caught some off of anyways.Attachment 195555
I'll try to get better pics next time out.
The last few pictures, look like bait to me. Large bait. The first few shots look like waves of black birds flying. Iconic of bait moving to and from because of boat traffic above.
It does resemble white bass a little because of how it extends from the drop straight out but these fish are also going deep below the line off the drop. Might be because it is winter time instead of summer.
Drop a spoon or a Rooster Tail in amongst em ...
White Bass like shiny things ... Crappie too ...
Rickie
I'll try the rooster tail next time. Might add that most crappie on pickwick stay on the bottom 90% time. I do believe lot of them are white bass myself but never catch one and usually pickup a few good crappie here and there. It was to slow of fishing to just identify one or the other seem like.

I know these are crappie just small school of them which is common on old stumps deep in prespawn.
I also need to change from 800hz to 455 on one of the structure scans correct?
I read somewhere yesterday that makes clearer image?
