down imaging help with HB 899

The screen is covered with horizontal lines. Any ideas ?

Turn off DI Sharpness in the DI Enhance menu ...

It's a known bug that hasn't been fixed yet ...

(I have read that a faster Chart Speed than 3 also works ...but this may be faster scroll than what you like) ...

I have an 899 and that issue drove me nuts. I am in a kayak so scroll speed of 2 or 3 is great for me but with sharpness on I got same as you. After installing Version 7.460 that issue is gone for me. That was the first thing I checked after doing upgrade.

Ok I will bite. I turned mine off Saturday when Rickie said it would kill the lines. How does the sharpness in the DI mode help?

It will back shadow fish...makes it easier to see them in di and si. Had my unit out today and really worked great. Tried out jigging mode today...pretty impressed with that.

Good question Rickie but I don’t see it listed in the software change notes for the 7.460 or any newer software versions.

Our 899 done the same thing, but only on chart speed 2. Updated it to 7.460 and problem solved.

So we have 2 separate 899's with 7.460 that the DI Sharpness issue is fixed ...

Anyone with other model SI units using this new version that also has the DI Sharpness issue fixed ...??

To clarify, I'm really not sure if the sharpness was on or off on our unit. Also, the lines on the screen were vertical rather than horizontal. Either way, the update made it disappear.

I thought that I had posted this earlier today but I guess it did not make it through.
Got confirmation that the problem with the DI sonar (using Chart Speed 2 and Sharpness) was fixed in software version 7.460 but it somehow did not manage to get into the release notes. So all Si models running 7.460 or higher should not have this problem.

While this is true - the original "problem" cropped up whilst we were playing with the SI logarithms and these have also been hand massaged with the "Jigging Mode" replicating the "old style" SI transceiver sequencing.
I would have expected a change, if not a "fix".
