PM Creekslick and hire him as guide.
The unanimous answer here will be contact Creekslick.
Just tell me what his boat looks like and Ill stick real close and bring my binoculars...:biggrin
Jus kiddin...this isnt a full-on dedicated fishing week..Lots of other things Ill be doing with the family...so hiring a guide, (while well worth it Im sure) Isnt really an option. If I can just get an idea of where the fish will be that time of year I should be able to figure em out. Its just a different body of water than what Im accustomed to..cold, clear and deep. Unlike my 20' max depth swampwaters down here.
Troll an 1/8 th oz pink jighead with a white twister tail up and down the bank across from choctaw marina Me and my dad could fill a semi truck with numbers of crappie we have pulled outta there.
Thank you!! that sounds like a great place to start!!
No luck yet on the semi, so I tried a Daihatsu, it didn't work out. Still searching.

My internet search indicates that the roads will allow 80,000 lbs on a semi. If a person got on some good ones, he would need 106,666 3/4 lb crappie and one little one, to stay road legal on that semi. That would be 5,333 20 fish limits which would be 14.6 years of catching a 20 fish limit of 3/4 pounders everyday. Of course it wouldn't take quite this long since you would have 3 extra days to fish due to the leap years.
I'm just kidding ya'll so don't take me any kind of serious.
Really, go hire Creekslick, it will be money well spent. Those deep clear lakes beat me like a drum.
Only take 1/2 that long. 80,000 is gross wt. normal load 40-42000 lbs, but still don' t think I will make it!!
Well, Ill give it my best...Im not too good at math problems, but Ill see how much a toyota tacoma will haul and let yall know...:cheers2
Here you go I've been going to Greers ferry for years and here are some of my notes and gps locations for crappie:
GPS
35 31'46.56"N 92 23'34.29"W
35 32'40.09"N 92 21'14.86"W
35 33'08.40"N 92 21'21.07"W
Fairfield bay fishing notes:
Main stripper fishing is located between Fairfield bay and Choctaw rec area,
Main crappie fishing zone is west of the Choctaw marina located at the Choctaw rec area.
Tie a peace of silver Christmas tinsel 6 inches above the minnow to attract crappie.
Clip the rear fin on the minnow, then hook the minnow through the back tail.
Enjoy :) If you copy and paste the coordinates into google maps search bar it will give you a good idea of where each is located.
Wow! I greatly appreciate that! You shoulda PM'd me that - Now I will be fighting crowds out there! And Ill have my family with me this time...so the stripper fishing is out...maybe next time. :biggrin
Sorry about not PMing you :) Last (this time) March there where about 10 boats in the Choctaw area spider rigging and another two or three slow trolling. Mostly older guys that are retired. Spring break in Ark does not hit for another week. You'll have the run of the lake next week. I guess now it will be even more popular :)
It will be tough fishing for awhile now muddy with trash floating everywhere.
Hopefully it will settle down some by early April.
If we don't get any more heavy rains things should settle and hopefully the bite will be on!
Sure lookin forward to it! I fished for walleye quite a bit when I lived up in Washington state while in the Air Force...wouldnt mind a few of those tasty critters as well. Maybe Ill run into some of yall out there that week. Wont be able to miss my old brown '77 crappie boat. Should have some CDC sticker on it by then. Theyre lost in the mail right now...
Yes, a crappie.com sticker is nice to have on your boat, but you can get the same effect with a "Follow me to the fish" sticker if the other don't show. Ya'll have a bunch of fun and catch a Tacoma load of fish. If the walleye are biting, pm me all pertinent info. :biggrin Need to catch and eat my first walleye in the worst possible way.
