Has anyone used the new locks on the chick yet since theyve finished the dam?
Didn't know they were finally finished, took them like forever to complete the job.
I didnt think they would ever finish Anchor Man. More traffic on the lake now I reckon.
If you weigh about 225, and try real hard you may be able to get them open. I only weigh 145 and could not open them. A guy working there offered to help, but if I couldn't do it solo, I declined. He said he got them open but really had to lead on it. I couldn't get them to move at the point where they close, looked to me like I had more leverage there than at the arm end.
And if that short 2x4 is missing, you need to be real strong to hold the deadman latch up, and open them at the same time if you are alone.
Sounds like it would be easier to just trailer your boat and use the other ramp. That is if you put in at rockahock.
Lovks dont sound good lol. Just another problem for the dam. Looks like they would hsve done a better job as long as it took them to do the job and as much money as it cost!!
Also are the fishing barges still in place? I asked before but did not see a reply Also was told shore fishermen can not get to the lock area to fish.. Sorry I missed it.
Don't know about the fishing barges. Have called there a couple times this wk. but didn't get anyone.
I would think with the spring weather it will not be long before some fishes this area and lets us know about the changes.
Was there today, the locks are chained and locked up. Doesnt look like they will be able to be used. One big barge is still there next to the ramp with a very large crane sitting on it. The barges that are next to the boat slips and run out to the channel that ive seen people fishing from are still there. A lot of corroded barges are placed in the field just past the railroad tracks. Work on the dam appears to be over with as i didnt see any workers there. Access to the dam is prohibited and a fence has been built to keep you off. So much for spring herring fishing from now on unless you are in a boat and the moratorium lifted.
