we are headed to Eagle Nest resort March 26th thru 29th, can anyone tell me the lake level/condition? I was wondering if it is flooded due to all the snow and rain.
It is high with snow on ground and alot of rain forecasted this week no flooding yet but high and probably rising
I'm sure it's a little high but nothing major yet. I am sure that it is stained and muddy which is probably going to make it tough but at least we can all get on the water and see for ourselves instead of looking at ice. I was going to be fishing Friday but it looks like I may have to wait another day (I'm getting tired of saying that) with all the rain we are suppose to get Thursday and Friday so it looks like a nice sunny, windy day is in store for saturday.
I fished today. It's a little high and pretty muddy in places. Still some ice at a couple ramps too.
Well whats the report fish wise minner?
Fished sun and mon and out of 6 boats 2 crappie caught in 2 days
I didn't catch a fish. But I'm putting my boat in right now so I hope to fix that problem.
Post a report after if don't mind. Good luck!
Good luck maybe today is the day
WOW - I hope the two week period prior to our trip helps the lake clear up! Thanks for the lake condition reports ! :)
Latest weather rumor up to 3" rain Thursday Friday but higher temps
Few bites, no fish. I'm sure somebody did good but not me.
We're you fishing the deep water or up in the shallows?
Deep water today shallow yesterday but the shallows are muddy.
Thanks for the report. I will be up there this weekend no matter what. With all the ice I figure the shad kill is worst then last year. Looks like it might be another stale year for reelfoot.
May need to drag some dead shad around.
I was up there today check on some stores and the water is up pretty high. It is out in the state camp ground. I saw a few boats out there but the reports I'm getting are not good. I hope it is not messed up again this year.
Any updates on Reelfoot conditions? I'll be down there next Mon/Tues. I saw some flood warnings for the Mississippi in that area but don't really know if that affects the lake. First time going down there. Based on everything I've read, my plan is to slow troll the deepest part of the lake for white crappie.
Water was 52 degrees yesterday. Lower lake is pretty cloudy but not as muddy as I thought it would be. I drug minnows all over the lower and caught one fish. A nice 14 incher. Had one other bite. Beautiful day with perfect trolling conditions just no fish.
Thanks for the report
Went somewhere else yesterday after I was there Saturday. Water was is a foot and a half higher then normal if not more. The fish are just not used to that kind of water change. Until the water stages itself back out, I don't think it's going to be good. I am curious to see how Sunday was with the bright sunshine and calm water. Hopefully some more people can chime in.
A buddy of mine went Sunday afternoon and tried some shallow trees with no bites then went out in twelve to thirteen feet of water and found some good fish only fishin four foot down. Several boats around him and none was catching he said they were fishing to deep, so some fish are biting you just have to find how deep they are in the water column.
We had 30 monday morning between 2 boats. 16 fow 4 to 6 feet deep on south end.
Way to go Cody
I can't wait to get back down there. Will be down April 23. Was dreaming that I was there last night.
They are going to be fishing a car out of the south end of the Washout today that went in there last night. I wonder how many brush tops that messed up? The people got out safe.
They must have got it out I was down there around 3:00 this afternoon and there was no activity. Wind was howling so no boats on the water on the south end and only a couple guys snagging at the spillway. The weekend looks good for fishing the lake...
Hopefully things have started picking up a bit. Looks like we have a pretty nice weekend ahead. Hopefully we can start putting some fish in the boat in force.
is anything happening shallow yet on this great lake ??
just wondering ????
Any reports on the lake condition? Im going to be there Friday :fish thru Tuesday - another question is when the wind kicks up where do you guys fish? Normally we just got off the lake when it got windy, mostly during the middle of the day then back on it late afternoon.
Thx
Went out today. Pretty slow. No wind and sunshine tomorrow though.....
I hope to join the circus on the lake tomorrow :)
:hesaid:hesaid
I'll be there next Monday... Looking forward to it. Back to the earlier question raised a few posts back - I'm also interested in the answer: where do you go when the wind is too much this time of year?
I plan to fish in the lower basin for white crappie. But if that doesn't work, would the black crappie be biting yet? I think I heard Starve Pond mentioned for black crappie this time of year. But I'm staying at Cypress Point and that looks like a mighty long haul with an 8hp.
mbk - post how you did on your trip Monday!
Thx
Fished Friday through sunday. Didn't slay them but caught between 15 to 20 GOOD ones all three days. Most importantly I through back 20 to 30 everyday which is very important and something that I didn't see any of last year. Nice to see some small fish which tells me they actually had a decent spawn last year. Fished deep Friday and Saturday and found fish about 12 to 14 ft of water and Sunday found some a lot of fish in the 7 ft range. Hopefully things continue to improve.
awesome! i hope the weather improves cause were headed there friday thru monday
I fished Monday afternoon with not much luck:( Started out jigging some trees never got a bite then went to trolling the shallows without a bite finally caught four in twelve feet of water four feet down on minnows and all fish were around a pound to a pound and a quarter. Talked to a couple guys today one was jigging trees and the other trolling deep water and only two fish were caught trolling... The fishing report for the foot is they are biting guess its hit or miss and with a cold front coming for the weekend who knows. Hope you can get on em and have a good time!!
