updated mine last week. love not having to mess with the "hidden" menus and all the guessing.
Did you see any improvements in the mapping?
I have it but haven't loaded it yet, maybe tomorrow.
I downloaded the 4.0 to an SD card but it won't load on the DF. I thought when I inserted the SD card and powered up the HDS it would automatically update. Do I have to download to my PC and unzip it and then load to the SD card. Right now it is a zipped file on the SD card.
You have to unzip it. Once unzipped, copy the UPD file to the SD.
OK I did that and when I go to screen where it shows the UPD file and press upgrade and choose "this display" it reboots and supposedly updates but I don't see where it changed anything. :dono
I still have hidden screens when I have the sonar chart displayed.
I have had old units get water penetration. I just take them apart and hang them out to dry. Two conditions that really screw up electronic units. 1. If the get wet with power on. 2. If the get wet and not dried out.
Insert the sd with the UPS file, then power up the unit. It will automatically update. There is no personal interaction during the process.
Well this is a new unit so I don't think that is the problem. It reboots just like it indicated when I selected the 4,0 UPD file but I can't see any difference.
Tried that first. I thought it would automatically upgrade when I powered it on but it didn't.
I just repeated the directions on the box.
Mine took about 10 minutes or so to completely install. It shuts off after download, then reboots and installs the program. Just like a windows update and a restart.
You can go to the system settings scroll to ABOUT and see what version you have. Settings-System-About
I checked that, it shows sonar version 1.4.3 and at the top of the about screen it shows HDS-7T v3.0 which I think is the version I have. Wondering if I should try downloading the update from Lowrance again in case I got some corrupted data the first time. That make sense??
Wouldn't hurt I don't guess, but it is a zip file. What is the name of the UPD file you downloaded? Should be: HDS_Gen2_Touch-4.0-51.1.69-st (130,734 KB)

Yea that worked. There exists two possibilities: 1. the 1st download was corrupted or 2. I may have downloaded the standard HDS and not the HDS touch upgrade.:banghead
In any event it is working now. Thanks for walking me through this. Now to get familiar with the changes. :ThumbsUp
Musta been a corrupt file.
mine is a new unit and it updated automatically when I inserted the sd chip and turned the unit on. it should not require your involvement. I assume you downloaded from the Lowrance site.Quote:

I hate to admit it but I downloaded the update for the non touch units the first time. They're both 4.0 updates and I didn't pay attention to the title of the update on the website. :bangheadQuote:

Go to Lowrance , support, downloads. Click on download and it will tell you what it updates.
I guess I will check or have it updated. My Gen2 touch won't give me that blue channel marker line on some of the lakes that I fish but my Gen3 gives it to me on all the lakes, they are both insight units.
One good thing I discovered is the overlay for time, temp ect moved. Now pull up screen you want touch power button. This will bring up access to overlay menu Better than the blue bar I always had trouble scrolling down.
