eating batteries in just a few days. anyone ever deal with this?
That don't sound right. Mines almost two years old and I'm fixing to change the batteries for the first time
Sounds like something (a relay) is stuck in the on position on the circuit board inside the remote.
Do you shut the remote off when stored?
Mine lasts forever, at least a year.
Call Minn Kota, something is wrong.
the original lasted about two years. i put a new one in it last year. this year it work at first and went dead. so i put another in it and it was dead within a few days. thought maybe it was a bad battery so i put another new one in it. again, dead within a few days.
what remote do you have ??? the old remote or the new one that's is out !!!!
the one on the left or the one on the right ???
Attachment 193875if you have the remote on the right you need to use this type battery CR2450N !!!
here is a place you can order them from !!!
Renata CR2450N, 3V, 540mAh, Lithium Coin Battery, Carded - BatteriesAndButter.com=
Make sure you are replacing with the Renata battery that Strmwalker mentioned. I couldn't even get mine to work unless it was that particular battery. Went through several different batteries before I found the info in a different forum. This was on the old original remotes.
Bill.....I have been ordering mine thru Amazon
Radio Shack has them, I just bought a 3 pack yesterday. $12 for 3. The 2450N is a bit thicker than the 2450. In some remotes you have to bend the contacts out a bit for them to contact the battery if you use the 2450. The 2450N fits better.
However, I did not know there was a difference until I read in a post on here and I've used the plain 2450 with no problem. Mine is the newer style remote, had it about 3 years. On my 2nd battery now.
The newer remotes take the 2450....the older ones take the CR2450N..the one with the N has a rim on it.......the other one does not.
Well now you got me wondering if the 2450N will fit the newer units?? Anyone know, before I open the package??
not sure but don't think it will.... possibly too big......the one without the N is easy to find....walmart even has them
That is what I get for overthinking things. Been using the 2450s with no problem, but I thought maybe the thicker 2450N would last longer. I will run by and change the Ns to the regular ones.
Glad I did not find this out on the water.
Thanks,
Ray
Just speaking for the area I live in, but it wasn't so easy to find here. Although radio shack was not open when I was desperate and once I read somewhere else to order the renata I just went with it. And again this is for the original remote. I just received my new remote last week and have yet to use it. Good to know it takes the 2450
Well I took the 2450Ns back to Radio Shack and swapped for the 2450. If anybody needs some, Radio Shack has the 2450s on sale for $1.45 each. They are usually around $3 to $4.
As a footnote the 2450Ns that I originally bought had the Renata name on the pack even though they were in a Radio Shack bubble pack. They were $12 for a 3 pack.
I have the older remote. Are the old and new remotes the same in functionality? I was thinking about getting another remote.
