Anyone having any luck yet?
Lookin to get the boat out of hibernation tomorrow afternoon if this head cold doesn't stop me.
I will be down Friday-Monday . I'll post a report when I get back. We'll be after crappie/whites during the day and snagging paddlefishing opening night.
Will be there Easter. Hope it's on by then
Saw a pic on Missouri Crappie Fishing Facebook group of a mess that was caught around Cape Fair. That really get's me pumped to get down there this weekend!!
I didn't get out. Head cold put me on the sidelines Sunday. Gettin' better though.
Headed to Lake Greeson in Arkansas Sunday.
Takin' the family to someplace we've never been before.
Since it has a nice header, I'll try to keep this thread going for Table Rock Updates
Fish stacked thick suspended 15 ft over 20ft at the junction of james and flat creek up to half way into flat. Couldn't get them to bite on the capps and coleman minnow rigs though. Had to lick my wounds after pounding sand for three hours. Boat going by every two minutes may have turned them negative. Lot's of snaggers out. I then checked out some shallow water sets in 12ft and pulled some squeakers out on minnow rigs. Covered a lot of water and still had to resort to old reliables. I'm thinking someone will tear 'em up when the bite gets active. I'll probably be behind my desk when that happens.
Shout out to Andy i met on the lake yesterday. Shared some lake history for a spell.
Bad start ended well.
Went yesterday afternoon. Headed down south of piney to get out of the dirty water. Boat load of kentuckies in 8 -12 feet of water. I'm still thinking these Kentuckies don't get over 12".
Pushing minnow rigs and caught the kentuckies.
Single poled some trees with marks but no crappie.
Gonna long line down in the long this upcoming saturday.
getting a crappie report or two from piney, slow, most days, couple days end of last week pretty productive, Bill had 8 nice fish and two big ole bass, all I got.
I love to see the reports from down south, I guess I'm a northern since I'm stuck up here between Stockton, Pomme and Truman. I used to fish down that way more 20 plus years ago when I was in college but I live just outside of Bolivar now.....I love southwest Missouri fish in every direction.
I've caught a bunch of crappie and some dead serious bass out of the Rock. Like night fishing there, run a spinnerbait around a standing dead cedar and see what happens. :ThumbsUp
Piney creek is my best spot in the late spring, some pretty good crappie in the area.
Anyone have a crappie report on Mark Twain?
I haven't been out.
Anyone doing any fishing on the Rock?
not me, ain't been in 4 weeks
Fished this last weekend in the Kings. Caught some absolute monster slabs with a bonus 25 inch walleye. The only problem was the fish were scattered out all over the place. Couple on the bank but most were off the bank in 8-30 ft of water. We were catching big females on trees in 30 ft of water and 1 here or there on the bank. We pounded the bank hard with minnow/bobber but the bluegill were up on the bank stealing our minnows pretty regularly. We kept about a dozen huge hand size gills which filleted out nicely. We would pull into a cove and the 3 of us would cast the entire cove bank and only pull maybe 1 or 2 fish out. Pretty tough fishing with no concentrations of fish anywhere. The highest water temp we saw was 67.5 degrees but even in that cove the females we caught were not spawned out and eggs were not ready yet. Very interesting for sure and one of the most puzzling springs I've fished in a long time.
Caught 18 on Saturday with 3 being 15 inch slabs. The rest were 12-14 inch solid fish. Did not catch hardly any shorts, maybe 2 all day.
Sunday caught 14, 3 fish were 14.5 inches, the rest were solid keepers. Caught 4 shorts.
New guy to the site from Iowa. I have been sent to Springfield to work this week. Was planning on fly fishing in Taney but the water is going to be high. I also brought some crappie gear. Any recommendations for a bank fishing area. I will be fishing in the mornings mostly. Usually don't start working until around 2 pm most days. Very experienced crappie fisherman in many states. Crappie are the same from Massachusetts to Texas.
So I went mushroom hunting instead this morning.
Went saturday evening and had only three keepers. Two 1.5#ers and a 1 3/4#er. Eggs were starting to turn and the were in closer to the bank than i expected.
I missed the pre stack up on the rock by going to Texoma and striper fishing. Serves me right for turning my back on Lady Table Rock. Tried to make up with her yesterday after church and stunk it up big time. One here and there and my prime gps spots for spawn (SP1,SP2,SP3 etc.) didn't turn more than one a piece.
Timing is everything, probably should have hit the main lake areas where the water is in the low 60's.
Water temp. 64 - 67 in the James. Fish were biting well on some other person's line. Sorry for the lack of help.
Water dropped 4 degrees this week. Females backed out to 10ft plus in the trees in piney. One here, one there. Lot's of friggin' Kentuckies. IF they were crappie I'd had four limits yesterday. Had only one big sow at 16" all the others were solid 11 - 13. Got my possession limit in the freezer so I put 'em all back.
Trolling ledges 11 - 25 ft. Picking up White Bass and some big girls. 11 white bass yesterday over 2lbers. Two Crappie, a walleye smallie and two kentuckies in a couple hours.
1.5 - 2.0mph. using 1 oz weights five feet in front of 200 series bandits & #4 shad raps 35 -45 ft of line. Also running 300 series bandits at 90 feet to 110 ft.
Perfect T-shirt afternoon.
Went back to the same place for a couple hours sat afternoon where we caught the whites
:dono
2 kentuckies
Nasty up in the james at my other spot. Too much debris to pull.
I'll get 'em next time.
Hows the water level and condition down there Kit on the rest of the lake?
2.5 feet above the new standard normal summer pool of 917. 915 is still the standard for me though so it's up 4.5 feet.
James was dirty with lots of debris so I fish down past point 13 until it clears a little bit.
