I am going this sunday, should find a few in the river. will post report how it go.
I'm going to try on Saturday I think.
Can't wait. I barely got on them wading in the upper portions last year so hopping I make it out there in time this year.
Gonna try the flat tomorrow. Maybe Ellerbee also. If no luck, I might make the Little River trek on Sunday:>D
Brings back memories. We used to go to the upper end of Lake Marion (Santee Cooper) and camp on an island in the swamp about this time of year. We would catch a bunch of white bass on their spawning run up the creeks. Then the White Perch got established in the lake and wiped them out. Have not seen one in years. I think some still run in the main river channel, but I have not tried them.
Tried a few spots today in flat & eno. Also tried ellerbee at power line. No luck. Water is cold, high and still a bit muddy. A few days of no rain and 50-60 deg temps will get em stirred up.
Caught my 1st one today. He ain't much but it was what I was after. It's only going to get better.

Water still high and fast?
I crossed the Flat yesterday on old #75 and it was as high and fast as I've ever seen it !! We need a week without rain.
Me and a buddy of mine caught around 25 this afternoon. All were small males. None worth taking pictures of. We were fishing from the bank. Hopefully the big ones are right behind em.

Well guys the word is out. The parking lot at Pennys Bend was almost full this morning. They started catching fish there yesterday. LOTS of them. Mostly still small males. In the past the bigger ones are always just a day or 2 behind. I would guess that the river around Red Mill is full of fish. I will be heading out this afternoon if the rain holds off. I will post a report later today.

Caught 30-50 yesterday after work (small). Shoulder is sore. Colder weather today may slow them down. Going slab hunting this weekend tho...
I'll be on the water in the Am tomorrow.
We hit a spot early this afternoon. Caught 30 between 2 of us. Still all small males. We caught all of these fish in about 15 min then the bite stopped. Guessing we were into a school coming through. Rooster tails and jig under a cork. Its only going to get better and I am already having fun.

Caught 30 or so small males above redmill road. Most of them bit vertical jigging a pink jig head with a white curly tail. I quit at noon when the rain started to get through my rain suit.
Tried Yesterday downstream of the flat to the RR bridge...not much luck. Will try for them again in a couple weeks.
Caught some just below Pennys Bend yesterday - All small males.
Fished the Flat and Eno all day today--REAL SLOW !!! Caught a few small males up the Flat close to the second ramp. Not a good day !!!
Ditto on that report captharley, we fished down the eno to the second set of power lines not sure what the problem was. Marked alot of fish but not much action. Caught a couple small crappie and whitebass in 16 fow on the bottom. Water temp was 53 and fairly muddy. Better than being at work.

Today was the 1st time I have had the boat on the river fishing for white bass. With some help from captharley we found a pretty good mess of them. We caught 25 or so with only 1 big female. All the others were small males.

Hey Buzz, I have to head up to Henderson NC for work next week and most days I will be done by three pm, can you give me some pointers for fishing on banks for some catch and release, I don't think the hotel management will be happy with me cleaning and cooking the fish in my room. I'm no Barney Fife.
Gonna try the flat after work. It's about that time:>D
Fished Penny's Bend this morning with no bites until I was ready to leave. Ended up catching around 15 males that I gave away or released.
Went last night to a spot I had caught a dozen on monday and only had two short strikes. I think the cold has slowed them down a bit I doubt the rain over the next two days is going to help either.
I rode over to Stagecoach at lunch. No one fishing there at the pond area. Water was very muddy and moving pretty good. I fished for about 15 min with no bites. I did notice a lot of trucks parked up stagecoach closer to 751. Does anyone know if there is access to the creek if I park there?
I will be hitting up one of my other spots later today. I will post a report tonight. Hopefully sometime this weekend someone will catch some big ones!!
Good luck, BUZZZZ
That was probably Eagle Spur Trail. It an old rail road bed that runs parallel to New hope creek. You can access parts of the creek when it's not flooded, but you have to walk off trail about 50 yds in some spots. It eventually ends when you get to the mouth of the creek at Jordan Lake. You can have some fun fishing there, but it mainly a hiking/bird watching trail. You'll do better parking closer to the bridge and walking downstream along the creek.
Fished Eno yesterday up to Little River. Caught a lot of small males (one half pound) but no females. Had an issue when we returned to the ramp about 5:30. Two guys fishing on the dock refused to move for us. We forced our way on the dock anyway and one of them remained elbow to elbow to my buddy while I got the truck. There were also 2 cars parked on the turn around that made it hard to turn a trailer and back to the ramp. What's happened to the NO PARKING and NO FISHING ON DOCK signs that were there?? Also haven't seen a wildlife officer there in a couple of years.
Capt. that sucks. Some people are just jerks by nature... But, can I ask you guys. What is a "Keeper" size White Bass? At what point would you keep them to eat?
Personally I like the smaller whites to eat. Some where in the 10 to 12 inch.
NC open carry laws tend to reduce interactions with jerks like that. But seriously plug these numbers into your phone and don't hesitate to use them. REPORT WILDLIFE VIOLATIONS - 1-800-662-7137 (Raleigh Area 919-707-0040). This could fall into the unlawful harassment area which comes with a $1000 fine and imprisonment up to 30 days.
Thanks for the phone number. It's plugged in my phone and I will use it!!!
Thinking about going this afternoon... Anybody seen the conditions after the rains last night? Maybe I should head to Harris or Jordan? Fishengineer
I went last night and fished till dark. Caught 8 total and finally caught one that fought back. It was a little bigger than my size 12.5 shoe so not huge but nice all the same. I think it was still a male though as he only had a slight bulge. Most of the fish were caught in the last 30 minutes of light so bring a flashlight a plan on staying till dark.

Ended up going Thursday afternoon. Only caught 2 keepers. LOTS and LOTS of small males (or white perch, I could not tell the difference) ... ended up catching keepers in swampy area off of the flat. Water temp was 70 in the shallow water..... both fish were caught in 65 degree water. One was 2.7lbs at 17" long. New PB for ENO.
