Thinking about re-locating my batteries from the rear of my TX-17 Tracker from the rear to one of the storage holes just behind the deck...thinking? Better balance when trolling etc.?? Gives up any hole shot, but I don't need that crappie fishn. OK guys....pros/cons. To do, or not to do...that is the question!!!
Would be a rougher ride for those batterys and could shorten the life of them.....but I have seen people do that. I thought about it on mine but talked myself out of it.
Yea....thought of that too. Thinkin bout encasing them in Styrofoam ....might 'settle' them down a bit.
got mine up front and still got storage room. so far, no problems at all. have not thought about them bouncing around up there but if winds are gonna hit more than 10 mph i want be there. good luck. WS

Thx windstone....gonna have to run some conduit for wires, but if I strap them down good, and pack them with Styrofoam it shouldn't be that rough. And you're right....over 1012-moh winds I aint gonna be on the water any way with my little narrow boat.
I HAVE been caught a time or two in 15 or so winds but my lowe handled it well. i may put styrofoam behind it and under it. i have plenty of room...

Got 1 cart battery up front in my tracker 190,and 3 cart batteries plus cranking battery in back, actually made mine ride better
I've got 2 batteries in my front compartment! 1 for the trolling motor and 1 for my sonars.I have them strapped down and haven't had any problem from them other than some corrosion on anything made of metal. I had a small tool box in there and noticed some corrosion on a old pair of pliers and a few old screw drivers.They actually help with added weight up front on a windy day when I'm by myself.The shorter wiring run to the trolling motor seems to give me longer battery life between charges.I've got 2 batteries in the back for starting and to run my bilges, live well and lights.Also with the 12 gal. fuel cell and me on the right side they seem to balance the boat better.Just my :twocents
Most batteries can't stand that kind of shock. Bouncing up and down breaks the plates loose and destroys the battery. AGM batteries would be a better choice
I put two batteries in a box where the ice chest goes. Made a hinged door to step on and never had any trouble

Slabber,just got mine done last nite. Next time you're looking fer something to do, put a 1" piece of Styrofoam on the bottom and 1 or 2" piece around the batteries. It snuggied mine up real tight in the space and I shouldn't have the corrosion issues that way.

Yea, I just spill my beer anyway when I get in a "hole' lot of hurry. I fish to keep from getting IN a hurry....not the other way around. lol But you're right. Getting on plane will be a little tougher. We'll see. I can always go back ifn I don't care for it.
I had so much weight in the back that the boat would plane out then start hopping.I had a 40 on it at the time with no trim.Went to a 50 Tohatsu with trim and the batteries up front and got on plane fine and trimmed it to where it was a smooth ride.Haven't had any probs with the batteries and have used them for 2 yrs. that way!I think I'm gonna put them in battery boxes with a lid the next time I get a chance.
