Tournament dates.. What does everyone think about April 25th or May 16th. If anyone knows of other tournaments or big event that would effect the turn out on these dates please leave feedback.. Thanks Ken
As posted above... Crappie USA has their event on the lake May 16th.
May 16th is crappie usa tournament and also crappie camp. Isnt it to late to get approval for a april 25th tournament from the coe ?
Me bad..must of missed that date in the above post. What about Friday the 15th of May. Jim told me with this new state rule of approval for tournaments we have a 60 day window to go by. This means we have to give them 60 days notice for up and coming events. With this being said no one knew to much about this new rule so there my be a little grace period we can work with but I think your right April 25th is out.
I don't know how tough they are going to be on the new rules, if they are your looking at doing it sometime in June at the earliest.
I don't know. We will have to wait and see what they work out. I should know more today and will keep everyone posted.
Just got off the phone with Jim. The paper work is all signed and sent off. Looks like its a go. We move it to Eagle Creek State Park this year do to availability of boat ramp and milestone dates for approval. Again the tournament date is Friday May 15th at the Eagle Creek Boat Ramp.. We may just have a sign up at the boat ramp the morning of. Or Jim may send out entry forms in the mail. I will keep you updated.
Hey Ken, doesn't sit and sip have a tournament on the 16th also.
Good question Pat. Maybe someone will chime in that is fishing tourney. I know Crappie USA has one on May 16th
Ill be at Crappie Camp, and Eagle Creek State Park on the 15th. Do you have more info on the tournament. Cost, hours, rules, etc.? I've fished Shelbyville 3 times, twice during crappie camp.
The First United Methodist Men of Shelbyville, IL. will be having a Crappie tournament on Friday, May 15th, 2015. Livewell check starts at 5:00 AM at the Eagle Creek boat ramp. Take off time will be at 7:00 AM (or safe light) check in time will be at 3:00 PM. The cost per boat is the same $50.00 with a optional $10.00 big fish pot. You can signup the morning of with no late fees. Hope to see you on Friday, May 15th.
Thanks

Tried to copy and paste one of the entry forms to this thread. Hope it works.
7:00 am or safe light means.. We could launch a little before 7:00 or little after 7:00 We want to make sure we have enough lite to see before we launch. Sign up will be at 5:00 am and we will have a meeting 6:15 am. If everyone agrees and has no more questions we will get the boats in the water. Make sure you have your lights plug in and on along with you life jackets and kill switch attach.
Sunrise should be about 5:40am on May 15th. Safe light should be long before 7am.
We had plenty of light for our 7am start today. Sunrise was 6:48am. Couldn't imagine you not having safe light long before 7am. Probably have safe light before your 6:15 meeting. Unless your expecting heavy cloud cover, like rain clouds.
Let me think about the tournament. Would like to go, however $50 for a single is a bit steep.
You never know what Mother Nature will throw at you this time of year. We've had thunderstorms, light rain, fog, cloud cover and very few times a nice view of a sunrise at take off is visible. So we try to get everyone in the water by 7:00 am and launch if we have safe lite. $25.00 per person or 50.00 per boat for two fisherman is reasonable for a crappie tournament. Everyone is welcome and I think you would have a good time and meet a lot of good people. If you need a partner to split the cost with you, I'm sure we can find someone to fish.
Where is the weigh in site for the crappie usa tournament?
If it's okay to pay per head? I would be more inclined to participate. I seriously doubt I will win, however I'm always willing to try. Let me see what I can work out. Right now I am a good possibility.
Partnering up- I doubt that will work out for me. I have to bring my Shih Tzu's this trip. They are worse than kids in the boat. One is pretty relaxed, the other is like a fart in a skillet. Eventually getting the relaxed one worked up until they play catch me if you can around the boat. They also like to stand on the bow while under way and feel the wind through their hair. Not fair to subject my partner to the distraction.
I think its 50 per boat.
That is correct it is $50.00 per boat. Dogs fish free.. Also if you what to get in the (optional) big crappie pot it is $10.00 extra for that. Ken.. I would think it would be at the ramp at eagle creek. Maybe someone knows of something else they are doing. We have been catching some nice fish the last couple of days. Here is one that would of been in the running for the big fish pot. The one on the bottom is a 11 1/2 inch fish.
Sit N Sip and SCC are both on May 2. I called the Sit N Sip to let them know to see if a reschedule is possibly. With the new rules I just read its probably not possible.
I am gonna go out on a limb here and say if it is not safe light prior to 7 AM we will be having other major issues, because sunrise is at 5:41 that day, so you should be able to see at 5:11 or there abouts.
guess one better get there at 5am so they dont miss take off if its a dang guessing game between "safe light" and 7am.
If you get to the meeting at 6:15 you should be good to go. Everyone should be on the water by 7:00 am. if everything goes smooth and if everyone is on the water and ready to go at 6:45 am or what ever time it is before 7:00 am and safe lite it's a go. We will have coffee and donuts for everyone at signup.
or do like I did 2 years ago at Eagle for the hook-it tournament.
got there at 640. takeoff was at 630
oops
All entry forms have been sent out. If you didn't get one in the mail PM me with your name and address and we will get one out to you. So far we have sent out over 90 forms. Should be a good turn out.
Got mine in the mail today. Thanks!
Great.. Glad you got it. Hope you can attend the event.
I wanted to fish it, but with it being the same day as crappie camp it makes it hard to get away for the day knowing there are things going on Friday night that need done ahead of time. Oh well maybe next year.
Sorry to here that clf. was hoping to see you there. I know there is a lot to setup before camp..:cheers2 Did you get your entry in the mail?
yes I got one
