Havent been lately,I plan on going Saturday.Havent heard any reports since the bad weather recently.
I am going in am as well. Good luck
I was thinking about going Saturday morning. I wasn't sure how muddy or how much current there might be.
Let us know. I was thinking of going Sunday, this northeast wind should be out of here by then too.
Good Luck to all, heard lots of current and muddy? Is there a way to know if they have the gates open on the lake? Jim
I am here now looks like water is up Can't tell yet about current or clarity. I can remember where I came across it i think it was lake Darbone life but they said one of the two gates was still open.
Water temp plunged to 41.5 yesterday. Sunny days woulda been nice.
Headed to Darbonne in little while. Hope to have somewhat of a decent report.
Fished yesterday at Corney for a few hours. Water temp was 38 and I didn't get a bite. The water was very muddy at Hwy 33 but the water looked good at Corney. I'm going back this afternoon to try again.
I'm from the area originally and graduated from LA Tech. I live in NW Arkansas currently but I want to bring my new rig down for some crappie (Ranger RT188). Hoping to make it down in a few weeks. I heard the fishing has been slow.
So due to the recent cold weather, when do you think the water temps will reach 60? Probably 3-4weeks?
Fished from daylight to 11 not even a bump.
Just left Hwy2 around 3pm today. Lots of current and muddy. Talk to several people most I heard was one guy had 12 and I watched him catch 5 of those. For me not even a bump. Weather has to get right.
So what has the water temps been lately? I heard it was low 50's a few weeks ago and I believe I read low 40's in a previous post above? That's a big drop. But.........stained to muddy water can warm quickly with 3 days of warm weather.
Think they will spawn out regardless of water temps? I know on my lake they have done that before. Last year it was super cold temps and fish spawned anyway.
Caught 1 this afternoon. Water looked ok but temp had really dropped. I watch some men catching a few out in the flat next to channel (HWY2). Talked to some friends that fished near Terral Island and Jakes. One had 5 the other 2 boats didn't get a bite. Not a good day.
That's the problem Ozark Angler. We will get a few days of warm weather then it drops into the 20's at night for three or four days and then we're back to the same ole cold water temps. Ready for spring sick of cold wet Louisiana weather. I know I'll be screaming for a cool front when we get to July but I have had enough of this rain and cold. I've got fish to catch.
Yep. Same thing up here in the Ozarks.
My friends have been catching pre-spawn stripers up to 40lbs and I have yet to get one. As soon as we get on a bite the weather shuts it down before I can get out there and catch one. Hoping to get one in a few weeks and then make a trip down to D'arbonne.
Thinking of renting one of the cabins at the state park. That a good option?
I don't look for water temps to rise much in the next couple of weeks. Supposed to be colder than normal this week and rain 4-5 days.
Next week's forecast is looking promising. Any chance the water temps might break 60 in the next 2-3 weeks if the warming trend continues?
I would think it would.
Keep us updated. Also how was the current.
My neighbor fished yesterday morning. The water temp was 41. Bite was very slow.
What's going on now? Any improvements? Water temp rising?
