Mine are down. I think I can see my line better. JMO.
Always down....crappie poles are designed to fish eyes down.
Up with the top section twisted so that the eyes on it face down. Want to be able to put my thumb on the thumb bar when I pick the rod up.
I fish with mine down, I think, just me, that my line will not tangle with the tip as bad. Scott likes his up and he still looks at me funny sometimes when he has to grab one of my poles.
I fish with mine down so I guess i'm "one of the better fishermen"! :Rofl:biggrin
I keep my eyes straight ahead, focused on the rod tips and line. Unless there's a pontoon full of bikini clad eye candy near by. :D
I fish with mine up
I fish mine down, it keeps the reels out of my way...
Mine are up.
Before the eyes are put on the blank, how do the manufacturers know which side is going to be up or down?
One more thought. Why would you use a bait caster and have it upside down on a rod? Makes much more sense to me to just use a spinning reel if you like the eyes down. Using a bait caster upside down defeats the very reason you used one in the first place. Awkward too.
To you. - lmbao I drive Bill crazy when I turn HIS baitcasters down.
I prefer spinning reels over bait casters.
I think bait casters have an advantage over spin reels in ease of letting more line out. I keep my drags pretty loose and if I need to let out more line just pull out against the drag with no line twist, line twist is the major problem with spinners to me. As far as mine being turned down, no line is touching the pole only the eyes and to my way of thinking less chance of the line getting hung up on the pole, but its what ever floats your boat.
Feesh don't know or care, and when I get one on I get so dang excited I fergit which is up or down anyways. I use mix and match SMALL bait casters. Spinners get in my way a little. Maybe with more experience they wouldn't , but for now ...small bait casters, eyes up and pray something accidentially grabs the minner.
Does anyone see an issue with twisting the top section around where those eyes are down when the baitcasters are up, its not like we are doing any reeling much and if you need to let line out there is enuff weight that this is not a problem?????
