Anybody been since all that rain?
I went out Monday at Sugar creek...doing some rod and boat maint...water wasn't bad...still looked pretty good this am...I'm sure up river is a mess! Temps still down 5-6 degrees from 1.5 weeks ago..hopefully the warm temps coming will have em fired up, but this rain wont quit!!
Is it just me or is this weather Deja vu of last year? New boat is ready to make a splash in Oconee to be filled with slabs!
I am thinking the same thing or was it year before last? :)
My truck driving fishing buddy called me earlier this morning and said he had just crossed Oconee and saw a pack of dogs chasing a hog across the south side of the lake at the Highway 44 bridge and from the way they were running and the speed they were making he didn't think they were more than hock deep in the water.
may have been on here last year where I read somebodys report that they had been fishing and the water was so muddy the boat left ruts!!! Now that's muddy and that's what the upper end of clarks hill looks like. Little river, big creek, heart creek are red as a foxs butt!!
I have caught many limits in muddy water. The mud doesn't bother me, but on Oconee their is a lot of trash in the water after storms (seems worst than other lakes) that makes trolling frustrating having to clean your lines every 50 yards. The water temp is a bummer. With the cold rain and the drop or no increase in the water temp I haven't had much luck. Cold rain always seems to slow them down big time. It has to change sometime, unless Al Gore is right about the earth turning to forever winter. Wait, there is no way Al Gore is right, he doesn't even know what planet he is on.
what color do you use in muddy water
PapaSage, I do well with orange like Dutch said. Sometimes obscure baits have worked well for me in muddy water. I don't let muddy water bother me a bit but this cold rain hurts. I can't go tomorrow but I am curious if there might be some fish caught. You never know unless you go.
