Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out the best way to mount and route my transducer cable on my pd v2. I've done some research and also emailed minnkota. I wasn't particularly impressed with the diagram they sent. I know there are some creative minds out there, so I'm just wondering what route you guys are taking? Pics would be great! Thanks!
There is a post in the stickys on top of page on this. There is a lot of good pics in it. There isn't a great way to run your transducer wire on the power drive. Just make sure you have enough slack in your cable so motor can spin a 360.

CH I have a Terrova Ipilot and ran the transducer cable from my Hbird 997Si on it and it works like a charm. But before I show and describe all of that to you, does your Powerdrive have a perfectly round shaft or is there an area/channel in the back of it for the entire length? (Sorry I looked online but couldn't get any pics detailed enough to show me)
It's perfectly round. I think only the terrova has the flat channel that runs the length of the shaft.Quote:

Yeah I've wondered the same thing. My main issue is havin all that slack hangin just looks kinda crappy. Thanks for tryin to help I appreciate it.
Here;s what I did. Made a standoff to keep the cable from getting pinched in the mounting bracket. Then use a small bungee that still allows cable to be pulled out when needed, but keeps the slack out.
Minn Kota should not dump their crap on us to figure out. I have damaged 2 transducer cables and still looking for good solution. I used the system at top of page plus added plastic tube just big enough to fit over cable after being split down the side.
I want to try the stand off system when the weather warms up. Does this let the tolling motor turn completely around without hanging on base or something else?
I did mine, round tube. There's a thread somewhere here with the pics and description. If I have a chance when I get home tonight I'll take a picture of mine. The wire attaches at the bottom and at the top of trolling motor, not in between as it wouldn't go up the sleeve when you lift it. I'll get a pic tonight. Basically what ShellBack's got going on.
Hole with zip tie, up through hole in lever, pulled semi tight to head and secured and back down through coiled wire. It's cold upstairs in the barn. I can do better when it warms if you need.

pics are out of order. It worked pretty well, haven't had any problems.
If you have an I-pilot Powerdrive, you need to keep the cable away from the shaft. Otherwise if it turns too much it will damage the transducer cable.
When I bought my boat, the dealer recommended that I mount the transducer at the transom. Reading threads like this one make me realize that he was right. It's not ideal, but I sure don't want to be destroying transducer cables either.
Warhawk, he want's to add a HB to the front of his boat. If you're give it half a thought you can work it just fine, pretty much the only way.
I have this model (V2) and just lost my cable too. In addition, I discovered that the prop end had enough line from poles and marker buoys to start its own shop AND it might be ruined as well. It was a VERY BAD Saturday...
In any case, I was about to look for a new Fishfinder up front as well and had been looking at Garmin et al when this came up. SO instead of throwing a $100 on a new transducer cable I am looking at a Lowrance® Elite-7 CHIRP with Lake Insight Pro for under $380 after coupon but I am still in a quandry about my V2. If it's not ruined or whatever. I added the remote co-pilot so I hate the thought of losing this model after all I have invested. My buddy installed it and says he added a fuse (which I did not check) BUT when I tried the remote AND foot peddle, the motor would turn right and left BUT NOT spin the prop - so I am assuming it is damaged???
I didn't delve into it further because I was about to expire from the heat yesterday...
Thoughts out there:
* About the method(s) to attach the cable AND transducer to either the trolling motor OR TO the boat itself??
* Could I have damaged the V2 and it simply gave out just as I tried to take all the line off - I had just caught the second marker buoy around the inside of the prop and was simply clearing that when I discovered that when I tried to use it, nothing spun...
So sorry to piggy-back on your thread BUT it popped up under a Google search and if necessary will start a new one BUT thought it best to start here.

Bob, if it was running when you got the line around it should work. If circuit breaker or fuse blew it would do nothing. First thing is try to turn prop by hand and see if it binds or seems to be locked up. Check the pin behind the prop, it could be off a little and in a bind. Try running it without the prop. Won't hurt anything as long as you don't run it a long time. Then for your other quandary one of the methods post in this thread should help you with installing cable for new unit.Quote:

That's what I was trying to say about the pin, yes it's there but could be in a bind. I don't know where the relay us on the PDv models but need to check if nothing is binding to make sure your getting power from relay to motor. It could have burnt a relay or wiring connection.

Here is the one fore ulterra. If you can give them the diameter of shaft and where shaft attaches to motor they should have it or be able to make it pretty quick.

Thanks to the forum i got mine hookd up. Now i got a cable going to the ftpedel and got it put together. Theres a smaller cable treaded in the coil from the head to somewhere. It screws into something somewhere but i dont no where. Thats where i need your help. You can get better info here than u can from minnkota.
If you have the US2 transducer, that's the cable you would attach the adapter cable from you depth finder to.
