trying to decide garmin or hummingbird.

Ive been thinking about this for months. 6 months ago i wanted a 998. For the consul of my g3 1966. Now they got all this hd stuff. Then i though if i saved up i could get a 1198 or 1199. Thats what ive been doing is saving. Now theres this garmin stuff thats totally awsome down side vu forward vu 3 d. Looks like 7 inch head unit would be about 1200$. And 1500$ for transducer. I thought i wanted that. Now for that you need 2 transducers ant 1500$ apice. So iam back to wanting 1199. I fish a small lake central nebraska. Great crappie during spawn. Then its a littel tought catching them . Theres some sunken ceder trees here and there. No trees in deep water at least not yet.. i just wanna locate scools of crappie and find sunken trees. Mark way points and catch crappie on these trees. There might be some cedars in 20 to 25 feet of water here and there. I wanna find these trees. And jig over them when water jets watm later on. Seen a garmin 9dv with 9 inch screen and down vu and side vu for 1200 in bass pro flyer. That sounds nice . I watched video with hummingbird and a guy said the white spots would ne crappie in trees. Does garmin side vu show crappie in trees also. Is garmin customer service as good as hummingbird? So confused just want somthing nice that will give me a edge and help me find these crappie. Any help ? Thanks.

Personally i'd go Garmin they have as good or better customer service as Hbird . There maps come preloaded Lake VU HD and are as good or better then Navionics or Lakemaster . They cover the whole US not just region's the only reason to buy a card would be to upgrade to the Lake VU Ultra .There is no messing with them either just set a few settings and go I was impressed with Garmin after I bought a 550C so I sold off the Birds ( 798 997 ) and ordered 2 Garmins and I have ran Humminbirds since 92 if that says anything .

I have used Humminbird for years, but if I had choose right now I would do the 93dv Garmin. It is so versatile. Has great maps, you can start with the unit then add the other options as budget permits.

Thats what I bought a 93SV and a 73DV Have already received the 73dv still waiting on the 93SV . with the introduction of Panoptics might have to get a unit that it works with before the year is out wanna see some on water results before I jump on one .

Just looked at that new 3 d technology. It does look awesome but it takes spending money to another level! By the time you buy the transducers and the 10" head units. WOW!

Panoptics will work on the 70s or 70DV on up through the new 16 inch models has to have network cable

Thinking garmin 93 dv or 1040 xs. Cant decide.

I bought a garmin 70echo map two years ago. Mounted ducer on my trreova first week out snagged the cable on some gnarly brush and ducer stopped working contacted Garmin and they said they would ship me a new on no cost at all. Will I was going out on a big trip in two days so I told I would just pick it up as I am only about 70 miles from them they said okay. Next day went up to costumer service picked up the transducer free of charge. Easy.

Fast forward 8 months again not paying any attention got the ducer cable caught put some serious stress on it and down the unit went call Garmin same deal they would ship it or I could come get it, so I combined a trip to visit my niece in Olathe with the pick up of the ducer.

I have been really impressed with Garmin service they do not even ask any questions just get you back going. Great company. Of course it helps if you live close to the plant. Love the echo map 70. Planning on upgrading it next year to include all bells a whistles

I could and maybe should but the Lowrance touch I already had is still good and I got the xi5 tm which works together so I guess I'm a Lowrance guy. Thus far Garman is not connected with any trolling motors , right?

I got a 999ci si coming in today. Seen the 93sv but I couldn't wait. Sho hope I made a good call.

The Echomap 93sv have finally started to ship. Bought one ......with any luck at the door Monday or Tuesday
