Just moved back to central Arkansas from Mississippi. We are originally from NE Arkansas but have been living in Mississippi for seven years. I am looking to learn where I should start fishing. I have two sons I fish with, not into tournament fishing. Just would like to catch nice crappie.

Welcome to the site! Which town did u move to in central arkansas?
Maumelle , Conway , Arkansas River , Little Maumelle River , Harris Brake , Atkins , and Overcup just to name a few. Peckerwood has big Crappie but private and must pay a fee per fishermen per day.
2 out of 3 ain't bad .Conway and Dardanelle have some pigs but fishing in Dardanelle can be tough sometimes.Quote:

We moved to Cabot, I am originally from Wynne.
RCC, yes fished mainly Barnett Reservoir. We lived in between Madison & Canton. Barnett is a 33,000 acre Reservoir with the Pearl river you can go up in for miles. Huge Crappie, and doesn't see out of state pressure like the other 3 reservoirs in Mississippi! Full of wood, must stay in marked boating lines when you run! The river channel can be deep, so good fishing all year.

Welcome aboard from NEA! If I lived in Cabot > Conway would be a no brainer for me.! You are living pretty close to some good crappie fisheries in my book....

Ok guys, what about Maumell and Greers Ferry for crappie? My Nieghbor bass fishes Maumelle and said he sees guys crappie fishin.
Also I was told Conway would not be a lake I should try in my glass Ranger. What do you think?
Maumelle does have good Crappie but you need to get the coordinates for the AGFC piles . Be ready to cast jigs on light line and count down in deep water from everything I was told by locals there.

I have never been tight-lining on Greer's. I have done well dragging jigs in the Spring and Bandits during the Summer and mark every brush pile I cross. I just haven't had the time to go back and tight line. Same with Maumelle and it is only about 30 minuets from my house. Greeson is giving up some big ones these days. DP
Be extreamly careful if you put ur glass boat in conway.
