Wow, hate to hear that Butch. Could buy a bunch of crappie stuff for what that's going to cost, but a new engine sure beats buying a new vehicle.
sorry to hear your truck died ==== you know there is a four letter word replacement part that will fix that booger right up :biggrin
Sorry to here about that Butch, Ford
That is bad news Butch. Replaced my truck last Monday and hope I'm done for a long time.
Man, Ronnie went all out. Posted it on Facebook, even. He could pull the Queen Mary in that truck. Claims he got it for his long Kayak, but he could pull the dealership down the road if he wanted to.
OK Ronnie....I'm not on Facebook so you gotta post a pic here. Cant wait to see what REAL MONEY can buy!:biggrin
Not new Butch but as much truck as I could buy.. 2006 Ford 350 with 6.0 diesel

Now that is NICE. The only thing I see wrong with it is FORD! LOL:biggrin I'm just kidding. I'd like having a truck like that one.:)
Most of the time I have something hooked to my bumper pulling around so I went with something built to pull loads. Been bad weather ever since and I'm wanting to see how it does. Don't think that 22' camper will be any trouble.
Butch,I replaced the trans in my 04 F150 a couple months ago, I went with a a factory remanufactured trans rather than a local rebuild came with a 3 year 100K mile warranty. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago they were doing a tune up and found the intake manifold was leaking coolant a $700 repair. The message here is look the truck over to see what else might die in the near future, it may be cheaper to replace the truck. I wish now that I'd sold this one and used the cash to help buy another new or newer truck. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth
Hate to hear about your truck problems Butch. I'm a Ford man too, but I have lots of friends that are Chevy all the way.
That's a good looking ride Ronnie. You shouldn't have any trouble pulling anything!
Butch, I have a friend that rebuilds engines, or installs crate engines, whichever the customer prefers. Wade Dunnaway of Dunnaways Rebuilt Engines. He is a great guy. In Washington GA.
Thanks for all your recommendations. I dropped in by my mechanic today and paid for a crate motor to be sent. He'll have my truck back to me sometimes next week to 10 days (I hope). It'll have a 100K/3 years warranty on everything (parts and labor). I like my truck and felt it was my cheapest way out was fixing it. I just hope nothing else goes wrong. My truck only has 127K on it.
Ronnie, I aint any make of truck man...I've owned 'em all. The Fords as well as the Chevs and Rams are some good looking trucks. If I was in the market it would problably depend on which I could get the best deal on, as always. With that 6.0 I'd doubt that you'll even know that camper is behind you...much less the boats. Now might be a good time to trade in that Bass Tracker for a big V-bottom Sea Pro boat for trolling on windy days.:)
glad you got your problem solved GBM aint nothing no worse then having your truck broke down
and that warranty sounds better then a new truck so you should be set to go
hope the 100,000 mi. warranty runs out pulling your boat to water before the 3 yrs is up
that be a lot of crappie fishin for the next few yrs. :fish
nice Stumpy. That 6.0 is tough. But when it go'es to the bad !!!!! Hang on to yo wallet.
the 2003 - 2004 6.0 Diesels are the ones with the issues !!! they have gotten a lot better since all you have to do is keep up on the maintenance ; oil & filter changes , fuel filter changes, etc !!!you good to go !!! now I will says this make sure you take it to a good 6.0 diesel mechanic !!! NOTE : 6.0 DIESEL MECHANIC not just a diesel mechanic !!! that MOTOR is GOOD and WILL LAST LONG TIME !!!
Thanks guys. I did buy a 5 year / 100,000 mile warranty that has a $100 copay. Paid as much for the warranty as I have for some trucks I have bought in my younger days!! But like said with it being a diesel and me knowing nothing about them I wanted to be covered just in case.
You done good on the warranty Ronnie. My buddy has one with just over 200,000 on it. Pulls delivery trailer with it every day. In the last 6 mo he has spent over 7,000 on it.
Butch I am glad to hear you are getting your truck fixed and will be back to pulling the boat soon. Ronnie that is a fine looking ride and I hope you get many years of service out of it.
Sorry to hear about your truck Butch. The new power plant should keep that bow tie going for many years.
Great looking truck Ronnie! Now to put a proper hitch on the camper so you can get the camper and boat to the lake at the same time.
The 6.0 is great, until its not.

Thanks for the info Shawn, may be time to trade :dono
Don't be skeered Ronnie. Those are great trucks. Like strmwalker said, problems with earlier ones.
Get a Warranty if any way possible for that diesel. You will not regret it.. Not trying to scare you , but the 6.0 is known for multiple issues . just traded mine last year. The truck itself is great , cant say the same about the motor . How many miles are on the motor ?
I got a 5 year/100000 miles that cover 6300+ toward the motor and covers about everything on the truck and drive train. Has a $100 out of pocket deductible. The truck has 119ooo on it with 2900 hours on the engine. I'm going to drive it the same as any other truck I have had over the years but will not keep it if it becomes a money pit. Heck they already are a money pit at the price they cost :Rofl
