Took my life long buddy out today. He has been at the police acadamy since january and got to come home for a couple days and guess what. The weather is in the pots! We tried catching the illusive crappie with no success. I think maily because the wind was so bad I wasn't able to present the bait in the proper manner. So we defaulted back to what we KNOW just from life long experinces and went after the cats. Was using cut skipjack. 21-25fow. Water temp 44. Knew it was gonna be ON because after baiting the first pole and getting it in the water, went to get another pole and that one got BURIED! Only had 4 catfish poles and by the time we got all 4 rods out we were already out of the bait i had brought. Didnt bring a throw net or anything. So the trip was pretty much over in just a lil over an hour at the most. Was a great trip though and we were so excited to have salvaged the day!

Dude you definitely KNOW how catch cats!

nothing wrong with a good mess of cats. they work perfect in grease.
-
Great catch most don't realize Catfishing is hot in winter time.
-
Nice catch. Love them cold water cats.
-
That's a good time right there!! Cats stack up in the winter just like crappie. When it's on, it' on!! Congrats!!
-
Stay off my spot:yikes:biggrin Gone to have to make a trip!!!:highfive lost a buch of crappie jigs in that spot!!:biggrin

Way to go! Good eating there

-
that is a lot of meat for just an hour of fishing.

And here I was, iced in at the farm, WITH a fish cooker and WITH oil..........
course, I don't think we had any corn meal. Dang.
Seriously, way to go, man. Wow. What do you clean them thangs with, a chain saw?
-
Hahahahah i woulda brought the corn meal! U still doin? Im bouta go back out! Temp is finally up to 23 degrees! I got room in my boat if ya wanna go right now!!! Clean em wil a straight blade rapala lmbo. Start at the tail and go up to and around the ribs, and out. Then turn filet over and take the skin off with the same knife. I can do it faster than a crappie :)

I have caught a ton over on the other side. Looks like a white bass possibility in that riffle.
-
Heck aint nothing like hot oil and catfish and some puppies and slaw.
-
Great save and some real fine eating there. Dave
-
nice mess of catfish there!

It has been some real fast action for sure. I love those hard tugs. Using 7 ought octopus circle hooks. They will bury that pole while its in the rod holder. Sometimes its hard to get em out lol.
