For those of you that fish Big "O" when do you think the time will be best for jigging in the reeds for shallow specks and spawning fish. Love to jig the reeds
in the spring in this lake.

A buddys been snatching them from the hydrilla around Bird Island.
Marathon station on hwy 78 south of Okeechobbee junction (441 & 78)- said they sold
167 lbs minnows on Sunday. Place must really be hot down there now. Lots & lots
of night time pontoon boats in River. Okchoobee has min. 10" size limit
Check Florida Crappie Club forum regarding results of tournament

commin in this full moon
Bigger fish were caught in Kissimmee river
Talked with my Uncle Monday night & he said they have been doing well at the mouth of the river under the lights. If the wind don't blow them off of the lake they are bringing home a limit most nights.
Haven't talked to him since last Monday. I read on here somewhere that the bigger fish were being caught up the river closer to the damn. Good luck if you go.
The big O!!
Good trip.
10" size limit is working. Managed to catch a lot of nice Specks.
All caught jigging. Love to jig in the reeds and shallow water on this lake.
Pearl white was the jig of choice.

Went last Saturday and caught nine nice ens, also about 2lb Oscar. That was one slimy fish, not keeping them anymore. Used minnows and bobbers inside eel grass.
Been told that they are excerllant eating fish - but slime problem is main thing
that keeps me away from them.
Spend lots of time cleaning boat - live wells etc..............
I'll pass................almost same for for catfish on deck and in live wells -slime
Northern pike - gar - mud fish - chain pickeral - toothy problem expecially if have
"brain fade" and lip them out of water..........
Never have caught myself Ron, only been told they are slimy and good eating,
but sure make a mess of things when trying to filet. Mostly they are caught in
various canals around the Miami - Lauderdale area as are the Peacock Bass which
is one devil of fighting fish. Don't know anything about whether they are good to
eat or not........
Whats the difference between an Oscar ans a Chichild or are they the same?
Couple of the nine I caught a couple weeks ago!Attachment 196464
