Sorry bro. Hope it gets warmer sooner. The crappie will wait for you!!
I think the groundhog did it to everyone this year with 6 more weeks of cold weather. Best of luck and keep warm.
Very disturbing. Getting frustrated with all the snow and cold here. An ice fishing friend of mine said there was over 2' of ice on the local Oxbow yesterday! Spring - whenever it comes - is going to be a slow process this year. We use to always count on being able to fish sometime in March on some body of water. Not sure that will be the case this season. :dono
Hit us yesterday about -20 below and 40 to 50 MPH wind.......coming your way now!
Ouch!!
Yep.....I am ready for Spring
JUST THINK HOW COLD IT WOULD BE IF IT WAS NOT FOR GLOBAL WARMING,LOL. I AM READY FOR WARMER WEATHER TOO,14 THIS MORNING,5 FOR WED AND 0 FOR THU,THESE OLD BONES CAN'T TAKE MUCH OF THAT
Man all this talk about the cold makes me thankful I was born and live on the Gulf coast even though it is hot in the summer.
genec,
LOL, the last 14 of the 15 years this century have been the warmest in recorded history! (that's worldwide average, not just in NE US).
If you get "sidetracked" with this cold spell, then you will forget about clean air and clean water!
We need to stop polluting the water and stop putting all that crap in the air!!
All the trout streams here in PA are only a fraction of what they were before! The once great Susquehanna was the "Smallmouth" capitol of the east US ---- now it has a mud bottom with only 5% of the bass it used to have, mostly sick infected bass too!
On the east coast, the Deleware Bay is always brown now, and polluted with almost no fish left! Lots of plastic all over the ovean (it will be there for the next 1000 years)
They stock the Crappie in almost every lake in PA now. Thank God! The clean lakes are still doing fine, but the fishing public would not stand for any more pollution?
I sometimes "joke" about the Global Warming in this horrible cold spell, but our weather patterns are screwed up? It was so much better 30 years ago!
Got out last week and changed oil in the mowers and tractors. took off mulching blades , sharpened regular blades and was sitting on ready . Put new pump on tractor spray rig and hoses on portable one . Today we are stoking the fire . lol :dono
Have to admit, it's a bit to cold for me to go icefishing right now. I have all the equipment i'll need to stay warm but these old bones just cant take being out there like I used to be. 20* isn't bad but when the wind is blowing 30 to 40 mph, count me out. Wind chill gets down to sub-zero's, i'm a couch potato.
50 a couple days ago ,Now gonna drop to 7
Just got in from 2 hours of snow blowing. Temp is -4 with -26 windchill and supposed to get worse. Low tonight -25 and add 25-35 mph winds.
Midwest and South hang tough and stay safe with the snow and ice storm that's moving in on you guys
I am sick of this cold too. Been planning a month to go to ky lake this coming week and we are supposed to be getting a foot of snow and terribly low temps. Guess I'm gonna have to wait another month for our march trip down there. Just want one day to get the new rod holders adjusted appropriately. Went twice to the lake last week only to find it freezing back over over night both times. Ain't had the boat out since just after Christmas. It's killing me. But on the side note it's still staying shiny sitting in the garage
Just watched the national weather on news. You going to have it rough. Don't know how you folks stay up there. They declared a state of emergency for the state of Ms this afternoon. Supposed to get 3/4 inches of ice and snow. Looks like it is really going to be rough in the Midwest next few days. Was supposed to be going to Indiana in a couple of days but that ain't happening.hang tough Doug. Maybe it won't last much longer.:pray:pray
Ice fishing, ice fishing, ice fishing,I went yesterday, windchill was -30.i caught six nice trout, got to walk on water, and it was so peaceful, except for the ice cracking and the howling wind. Now tell me who could do that in the summertime?
We are supposed to get 8 to 12 inches of snow today. It's been a long winter but not near as bad as last year.
I'm ready to drown some minnows.... :pray
People, it has to be really cold for Chaunc to admit that! He is a Pittsburgh Steeler fan and he says they are tough! He loves to ice fish but he loves to stay warm better. LOL

Not true Mike. I dont mind the cold. It's the BITTER cold that will keep me indoors. I'm not a fair weather fisherman like that browns fan that moved south. :biggrin

Chaunc,
That Brown's fan knows that homeboy loves to fish soft water and where the two and three pound crappies live. I am effecting the southern economy by doing my part to spend my hard earned retired money to buy the gas to put in the car to take me to the water to introduce some crappie to the black iron skillet that holds Lake Crisco. Homeboy don't do BITTER COLD anymore

I was made to put the fish on the ice and not to walk on the ice. I was at the fishing bank when God gave out those skills and I missed out on them.

Maybe try getting into jig tying. That helps me pass the winter. And it's fun.
