I have one on my 20 ft center console boat Xpress. Great low end power and is super quiet on the top. I love mine. My boat is pretty dang heavy, but it will run 40-41 with a fishing load (3 batteries, 2 people, tackle). Plenty fast for me, but anything bigger I would want a 150. What size boat are you looking to put it on?
I have a 18' Famous Craft flats boat, dry wt hull is 900lbs.
My buddy has the same hull with a 2 stroke yammaha and he gets 44 top end.
Right now I am studying hard between the Yamaha and the new Merc 115 four stroke, it looks like a beast.
You won't be dissapointed with the Yamaha. I've had a couple of them. Really nice quite ride. Cannot comment on the new Merc. I could on the old ones... but I won't!
I had a Yamaha 115four stroke on my previous boat and I liked it.....got a new boat now with a Yamaha 90 four stroke and I like it.
i've got one on my h18 express crappie series and love it. quietest motor ive ever ran. i did have to play with props to get it just right but with my 17 inch prop and 6 inch jack plate i can get 61mph by gps with just me in it. best performance is at about 5200 rpm. that puts me around 41 or 42 mph and the boat still has a good bite on the water. the gas mileage is remarkable.
Love mine. Easy on gas and extremely quiet. It's an 08 and I've never had a problem.
I have a new Yamaha 115 4 stroke on my WE 861. Worked on the SS prop, And at 5250 rpm getting 42-43 mph with two and tackle in the boat. Carry on a normal conversation too.. You will LOVE it, IMHO
I have a F115 on my Polarkraft 168SC and I like it just fine.
I sell tons of the F115's and they perform flawlessly.
I can tell you mine does 43 on my express loaded or not. Brm tried to tell me he went faster with it before I got it lol. I guess my fat but slowed it down but 5800 rpm and 43 mph I have very little slip.
I have had mine 3 years without doing anything but maintenance, however I am having issues with it now. I am having a hard time locating a dealer near me to get it in and actually fix it. My rig has been in two shops now and not fixed. The newer four stroke motors are not something that many mechanics can work on now days.
bowhunter that makes me wonder how this new design F115B is gonna work. What is your problem?
Maybe I'll just go with the ProXs, it seems to be proven.
The motor surges when on top end and
When I come off plane it dies. Those are great speeds tx what boat is that on? I have a power tech prop. 19pitch
My boat will do 42 loaded or unloaded lol. It ain't a speed demon but rides good.
Would love to know what your cavitation plate distance is from the bottom boat and setback is on motor. Would love to try that prop out and see if it makes that difference in my boat lol. I worked with power tech on phone and seems like what I got from the best at the time.
Fyi what u get from the factory is never the best prop for the boat and more than likely what's most economical for the company or dealer.
I have a 115 on a 17 56 xpress. The best I have done is 50 mph
6” setback, a little under 3.5 below pad.
These are gps speed and not speedometer correct? My water pedometer shows me faster than gps
Yes, from a HDS-5 unit.
That's great tx. Wish ya lived closer as I would like to try that prop. I am gonna look and see what prop I have and motor settings with set back.
Ok it looks like speed is good.
How is it in the hole shot?
Sluggish? Comparable to a 2 stroke?
