Has any one gone from using a 24v terrova with 4 batteries to a 36v terrova with of course with three? I am interested in the amount of run time differences trolling. I hope to go to the new ulterra when they get it fixed and currently have a 24 volt terrova with 4 batteries. I'm thinking that the 36 volt will be more efficient but don't know whether it is a noticeable difference.

Can I ask why your running 4 with your 24?
Cray, Creek does this as well so he can pull cranks for a full summer day. Says three battery's with a 101# won't make it. Using a battery switch makes it easy.Quote:

2 Marine Batteries and two wal-mart jump starts.Not as much weight as 4 batteries takes up less space.
Jump starts Shows how much charge left in batteries.Turn switch on when needed off when not needed.Don't always need it. Recharge jump start each time you charge batteries. Can run form daylite till dark and still have enough charge left to clean fish with jump start.
This is interesting. Can you leave the jump starts connected all the time and just activate them when needed? Any concerns of a power surge? I'm not familiar with how jumpstarts can be used other than their original purpose.Quote:

I use a Terrova 101 36v and have pulled cranks all day at Sardis and still had plenty at the end of the day. I think it really depends on boat size and weight , I'm in a 2070 xpress . So I have a very shallow draft and the boat is not that heavy so there is less work the motor has to do.
It also depends which body of water you fish. I fish the Tennessee River. So I do fish in some current part of the time.
Jump starts are just batteries with built in chargers. Not much different than hooking up a lawn mower battery in parallel with your TM battery. Most jump packs use about an 18-22AH AGM battery, which is about what kids ride-on toys use. You can just buy the battery alone for 1/4-1/2 of what you pay for the jump starter, but these batteries are less than a quarter the capacity of a typical TM battery.
For the cost of a jump start pack or two, you could add a pair $75 group 24 deep-cycle batteries to the boat and get 4 times the additional run time.
How do you hook up 4 batteries to a 24 volt? Can you show diagram of battery cables
Take two batteries and hook them up + to + and - to -. Now treat that as a single battery and connect it in series with another 2 battery parallel combination like you normally would for 24V.Quote:

May be my answer. I've got ever start on my new boat it came with them. They have 11/11 on sticker so probably about done. Starting battery says 08 lol fixing to drop some dollars!!! Batteries are fine but I know its any day now. You think 4 everstart group 29 be better than two group 30-31 215rca batteries
Seen some Agm at Cabelas they where cheap for what they where. Wished I'd got them they where
30 group 215 rca $179.00
29 and 31 are the same size for all practical purposes. Different companies chose different groups for some reason.Quote:

Shop by weight and you can't go wrong as long as you compare AGMs to AGMs and flooded cells to flooded cells. AGMs will always be heavier for the same capacity. It takes lead to make a deep-cycle and they can't cheat on that. The Everstart weighs 61lbs , the Deka 59lbs and the Trojan is 66lbs.
This has been an interesting read. I didn't know about using the extra battery with a 24 volt TM.
