1/2-1oz depending on the speed I'm gonna go. Lots of guys like a 3/8
1/2oz most of the time here tho.
I use 5/8 day in day out.
I go heavy, makes depth control easy. No second guessing depth when I change sizes of lures (say from 1" grubs to 2.5" grubs or even cranks).
1/2 ounce
What type and how do most spider riggers use their sinkers?
? egg sinker, bell sinker ,or bank sinker.
? tied below bottom hook or above bottom hook.
Egg sinker above bottom hook
Same here ... and I like to tie a clip or swivel on below the egg sinker, and have pre-rigged leaders (jig or plain hook attached) available to quickly change out in case of break-offs or if I want a different color/size jighead or switch from jig to hook (or vice versa).
With the egg sinker being held on the main line by the clip/swivel ... there's less chance of losing the sinker along with the rest of the rig ... since I can use a lighter pound test on the leader and expect any breakage to occur there.
... cp :kewl
3/4 oz egg sinker above bottom hook/jig/roadrunner all the time

Attachment 188918Recently ran across a stockpile of these at a garage sale...I love em. Fold the little tabs over, easy on easy off. Hard to find...
I have a few of these and for whatever reason my line wants to twist with ghem on?
Hmm never had that issue...WHen I put a new one on I do pinch the bottom tab slightly with needle nose to keep it from sliding, careful not to damage the tab so I can take it off with my fingernail. Other than that their slim profile lets it cut thru the water easier keeping my line more vertical. Never had twisting issues though. :dono
Start out with a 1/2oz egg sinker if I need more weight I add what ever size ear less split shot I need above the egg sinker it's quick and easy.
1/2 oz.
if the wind is giving me issues, I add a few split shot. Over 15mph, I go do something else.
I really like these I no longer use the egg sinkers.
I use 8-10 lbs hivis line to the weight and 4-6 lbs line from the weight to the jig. When I get a snag up the lite line breaks off and I only loose my jig. I hardly ever loose the snake.
We also rig them with the weight at the bottom to bottom drag I feel the weight wont snag as easy like a larger diameter sinker.
We ran a test someone said they would have more drag in the water so we spider rigged with 4 poles snake and 4 poles egg caught fish on both set ups. But every time I would snag with an egg I would loose egg and all.
Yes Rickie is a good friend of mine and I use his stuff. But if I did not know Rickie I would still use this set up it works!
2 oz and 5 oz pushing cranks.
bank sinker 2oz and push about .8

Fast are you fishing the 1/2 oz sinkers?
got my snake in da bush today and can't wait to try them out..... I used a wire spreader on top rig for jig and just tied a number #2 wire hook wit bead on bottom for minnow...
I use 1/2 oz. most of the time. If it's really windy I'll up it
