I would like someday to buy a new motor. Looking at the reviews and being around them on the lake the Yamaha is the one I would go with myself. Honda makes a good motor to, amazes me that you can't hear them running. My old motor like gas but it runs out good so right now I'm holding off but hope you find one that suits your needs.
Definitely buy a four stroke and save some gas. I like the yammys but money talks. I'd probably buy a Merc.
Hate to sound unpatriotic, but the Japanese 4 strokes will probably give you the best reliability and fuel economy, much like in cars. I have had both Honda and Suzuki outboards over the past two boats. Current motor is a 140 hp Suzuki 4 stroke and has honestly been just about bullet proof. Even quieter than the Honda I had before. Lots of serious trollers use the Hondas still. The Yamahas are good too. Pull the covers off of each before you buy. I was happy with the components I saw on the Suzukis (Mikuni, Hitachi, etc). I plan to seriously look at the Suzukis again when I repower. I think Suzi even has a 4 cylinder 200 hp 4 stroke now if that says anything about their R&D. The Suzi may even be a little cheaper than the other two. Good luck with your search.
You can't go wrong with a Yamaha 4 stroke. This is simply the best outboard on the market!
Anyone know how much the 115 4-strokes are costing??
alot of the comercial fishing guys in my area run suzuki outboards and say they are the best they have owned.
I have a 2004 Johnson 150 hp on a 185 invader alumicraft Next time I will change to the new evinrude 115 ho it is. Direct injection starts on the first turn of the key the first service is 3 years and you can run reg gas like you put in your car and they have better EPA rating than all the rest, check out their web site

That looks like a goodern! May she give you many years of reliable service! What hp did you end up going with? You may still be breaking her in, but how does she run compared to your old motor?
That's a pretty as a new puppy!!!! :ThumbsUp
there ya go :ThumbsUp
You should have went on a night stalk Friday night. Congrats on a fine motor, you won't regret it.:cheers2
Nice, where did you end up buying it ?
I took her out today and went through the first 3 hours of break in. I am amazed by this machine. It idles so smoothly and quietly, it's easy to forget that it's even running. It seems to have a lot more torque than my old 115 2 stroke and it definitely has more top end. I felt like I was riding on the handlebars of a bicycle at 50 mph. It used less than 2 gallons of fuel today.
Congrats. That's one fine looking motor. I hope it last you for years and years.:)
You quitting or something?[emoji6]
Congrats. That will do the trick for sure.
