Black Lake 01-29-15

Haven't been fishing since last of November so I got up this morning at 3 am and checked out the weather. Man 53 degrees, cloudy sky, light wind out of South West , perfect condition. So I loaded up my box of gray ghost and away we went. Got to the landing about 20 til 7am and not a vehicle there. Put in and eased out to the big bridge nobody fishing. Hmmm , might have been a bad move on my part. Maybe should have stayed under the cover. From 7 t0 8:15 the old gray ghost pulled through. Then the old sun came out and next 30 minutes only managed 4 or 5 so I said self might as well go home and come back when they be biting. Got home and only had 26 so maybe better luck next time. . About four more week before I can go sure be happy to fish some. Sitting around the house is no good

my buddy and I got on the lake at 8:00. Two good crappie in first 10 minutes and that was the only two bites we had. Went to lunch and home at 12.

hate when that happens....I always get stuck in a rut at that point and try to stick with what I was doing in that first 10 min.......which is NOT the right thing to do........

bobgill they stopped biting between 8 and 8:30 for me too. Once the sun came out they just shut down. Don't think I caught but 5 or 6 after 8am and was the reason I decided to go home and try another day.

Tbone I'm too old to fish at night anymore but I have gotten down there early in the morning and there would be people fishing with lights and they said they had been there most of the night. You can cross the bridge at night and when you go to get on it you will see lights burning under the bridge. Heard they do real good doing that , just not for me anymore, too clumsy.

Congratulations on a nice catch J_ROW. I was wondering if you were okay since I hadn't seen you post in a while. I'm glad you finally snuck out there and caught a few. You always make me wonder what the heck I'm doing wrong. LOL. See you on the water soon.
