On the Corp lakes is there a right or wrong way to sink trees to make my own fish habitat?
Not as long as you use enough weight to hold them in place
I've got several 7 to 8 foot Christmas trees do you think 2 cinder blocks a tree would be enough?
Plenty if what you tie them on with is adequate and last longer than the trees.
Long as you fill each block with a 80 lb sack of quick Crete
Get you some of those cheap thin plastic gallon pots that shrubs come potted in, use 2 with a bar connecting them , fill with quick crete and tie them to the trees with 3/8 nylon rope. Thats enough for 2 average size trees.
Up here on Shelbyville they don't want you to put your own habitat in but that don't stop them. They are trying to set up rules about it where the top of them be no less than 6' under water during winter pool cause of all the recreational boater on the lake. And no plastics because of the EPA rules.
At Grenada the COE uses plastic
Ive got tons to put out at sardis and bay springs and pickwick....just trying to decide what i want to use to sink them...I have about 25 trees and tons of cinderblocks...also the next thing I need to know is where do I sink them at in the lake...such as what should I look for when placing them
Place them on river edges. Needs some put out from the mound to Wyatt's. some of the trees they dropped off at hurricane the local kids snatched em up and has a good Bon fire with them. Personally I don't like fishing those trees. I like using natural branches and limbs that's on the waters edge that stuff is everywhere and the fish love hanging around it. Just walk out there gather some up and make some structure.
Best thing to do with those trees are to put them around stakebeds or any other structure where the fish will spawn those trees are great for the frys to get into after they hatch. i dont like fishing christmas trees you stay hung up all the time
Most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to PM me the GPS coordinates and lake! :)
why would you want gps coordinates ? majority of people tell me they are no good to fish, but im going to sink some anyway...got free trees, free cinder blocks
Put em at the trees from hurricane to the mound also you can drive your truck to those spots won't have to drag it far.
