Was thinking of getting the 14 footers...........any one use them now and how do they compare.
I have never used them, but I am told they are comparable to a Wally Marshall rod. And Wally Marshall rods are all that I fish with.
I use the 16' longlining and they suit me just fine.
Cuz and I have been using the Crappie Max Tightline rods for pulling for years. I pull 16, 14 and 12 footers. They used to be called Wally Marshall Tightline rods until Wally and Bass Pro broke up! They are the most durable rods I have ever used for pulling jigs. BPS has them on sale for $10.00 off each rod online.
These rods have a high vis tip and a nice new color . I paid full price for mine so take advantage of the sale and load up, you can't go wrong. I have a dozen of these rods in my arsenal and I use them tightling and longlining. They are a little heavy for jigging (IMO) but that's not what they're made for. The 14' are easier to handle but I prefer the 16' cause they are farther away from the boat... try both. I also plan to purchase the signature series during the sale. GO AHEAD AND STEP UP YOUR GAME!
I jest luv da ones whats on sale.
I have 16' B&M and 16' Southern Pros.........was just thinking about adding those for my 14' rods. Thanks
Picked up one of the "new" signature series in 12' for single poling and really liking it with the limited amount I have been able to use it.
Like you, not impressed with the reels. I have 2 - 9' wally tightlines and like em fine but they're a lot stiffer than the BGJP I also have, better for trolling than single poling. Wallys rods and the Crappie maxx are alike in the actions, I believe the label was changed and little else. I just bought a Maxx in 11' and have yet to use it but it is about as stiff in comparison to the 9's I already have. I need 1 more 11' to help set up the pushing rig I have in mind. Just input on what I have noticed comparing first hand what I have. 3 piece rods still in my future.
I have been using a crappiemax jig pole for dipping have tried some others but keep going back to my old 10ft crappie max
I have both and can not see any difference, I like them both.
I like my Deep-South's 16 - 14 - 12 & 10's wouldn't trade for anything.
Also have 2 - 14' Signature series WM's on wall that have been there 3 yrs now.
These rods have the backbone to handle just about anything - just too bad they
went out of business before could really get going on market due to supplier problems
off shore.
Whenever those 14' WM's need a home, holler at me!!
They are the collaspsable kind -compact down to about 4 ft... They are for real
Signature Series... don't have any idea how old they are - got them at BP several
years ago. Have not seen any more anywhere. Used them for going after
Red Ear - Shellcrackers in pads - really flexible tip but have great back bone for
pulling them out of cover
sad but so true - in order to bring price of purchase in line we think cost Walmart
drove this into our heads and China was avail for labor to build....
