What do most of u guys prefer for your tails on jigs. I would say 70% of my jigs are done with marabou. The rest are done with hackle tips. Not a fan of using pieces from the stem of the feathers. Just wanted yo see what u guys prefer and y.

I use about the same as you.
Marabou, Flashabou, Saddle Feathers (4" or less), and baitfish Emulator Flash is all I use. I use a combination of them on a jig to get more detail or flash. The best skirt materials I have found. Also the rubber skirts can be used to add a bit of rubber flash to your jig as well.

I use ,marabou just about 100% in spring, but after that like summer I use either one. I do like hackle tails still in spring, but most of my time is spent trolling and i pull Roadrunners then. However if I decide to say fish under a bobber, well that may have to go to a hackle tails jig like a popeye as I know they can be killer! Also if spring has just got them moving in and water still cold I would actually go to a kip tail jig under a bobber and know that will do very well too! I am sure Squirrel will also do great in this case.
All marabou, all the time.
use Marabou from time to time . Will also use hackle and hair along with the marabou on a few patterns I tie . When i do use it , it is the xtra-select . A very wise gentleman once told me " Beautiful Feathers make for Beautiful Ties "
Marabou saddle hackle and Craft Hair!
Hard to pic - I like a selection and then figure out what they want to hit. To much fun playing with materials to have to pick!!LOL
I actually can't stand marabou... I mostly use kiptail, artic fox, rabbit, baitfish emulator, duck, and hackle lol... Kiptail gets the most action for me under a float around this time of year (to early this year with weather but hopefully in a couple weeks)
I hear u about the weather. Looks like next week is going to get brutility cold. Sucks. Soon as tge icenter is out I'm going!!! Never herd of kiptail, got to check it out
I have always used marabou but this year im going to try a few with feathers
I like them both, depends on where you're fishing, water clarity and time of year. I also love using craft hair.
I like to use a 1/16 oz jig head with 3 hackle feathers usually white/chart or black/chart. Tipped with a minnow. I kill yellow perch on them durring this time of than year also can be deadly dished under a cork for slabs. Pretty simple but they work. Would post a pic but haven't figured it out yet
Make sure to get a jig head with a collar that has no Barb, but has a small flair at the end of the collar, at least that is how I like it best. It will not spin near as bad as it will just around the hook shank. Also look for tails that have longer hair if you can, just ask where you buy it unless you get to see it in hand. It's basicly shorter hair than most so some can be a bit difficult, but it will catch crappie! Oh and it just calf tail.

I like a kip tail with a hackle tip if it's short.
satin, marabou, hackle, kiptail, bucktail, mylar....kinda with FM!
