You must have filmed that yesterday. No sun this morning! I can see a whole new career ahead of you!!!
That was the ones from Saturday, so you may have seen the video earlier. I can put the hammer down on some ducks when they are lit:biggrin
Yessss, I am familiar with "Skillet Scraping"!! In the northern tier of states that is known as "Arkansasing Ducks"!! :Rofl
I'm into just shooting cripples. That's the sportsmans way to shoot 'em on the water!!:biggrin
I like to get one on the water and challenge myself when the rest get in the air! We call it "Pond Shooting" up here! Them ducks don't like to set down for me like in the yester years. My kill rate has went down to im sure.:scratchhead
We still like to do it the same way we did it "back in the day" when we can. Many many times in the early 70's when I started if no more than 3 or 4 lit, there was often just one shot. We still try our best to park em' before we shoot. We would kill lots more ducks if we wing shot when they dipped down in the hole. It does seem harder to put them on the water than it once was. We can definitely be accused of skillet shooting, but we can never be accused of sky busting. Besides, if that breast is down in the water, there usually ain't any pellets in it:ThumbsUp
We had the day back early when we didn't get but 12 ducks in the hole all morning and me and my buddy killed 10. Didn't but a small handful have holes in the breast either. We don't believe in leaving many to tell the tale to their little duck friends.
When you've put em on the water you've done your job......cool vid.....Thanks
RCC, some people don't like the idea, but I'll shoot them on the water when I want some to pick. My dad would not accept ducks that had holes in the skin as table fare. I like to pick some ducks every year to smoke and give to folks for Christmas or Thanksgiving. I want that bird pretty when it gets set on the table!!
Looks like rain tomorrow. You going after em one last time??
No, I've left the defense of the hole to my buddy. I don't hunt on a Sunday.
Thanks RCC Duck KaBobs.
People talk about tradition, and getting them to the water was how the old timers did it. That was the goal... shoot them on the water, and kill as many as possible.
I still do it, and always will. Just don't shoot the decoys.
that is a nice looking hole there. Glad to see someone killed some birds this year, because we sure did not. Languille never got out of the banks
