Never heard of a Coral. Google it
Ok.......Cabelas is supposed to have them
Thanks, headed there to check.
Did ya' fall in the water!
Jimmy....Where did you buy these Coral inflatable pfd's ? One google search took me to Cabelas....But Cabelas does not have them....I cannot find them useing any of the search engines. I have never heard of this brand before.
I bought 2 at walmart years ago on clearance when they put a $64 green price sticker on them. The little yellow sticker has $5 on them. When the Southaven store was on Stateline.
Didn't fall in the water, never used. Thinking, they are over 10 years old I may need cylinders. Wish there was a way to test them without arming them.
After a couple of hours with my life jacket on in the kayak it riding high on my neck. Figured this one would easy the ride longer.
I got to looking today and found this site, inflatablepfd.com , I sent them an email, waiting on a reply
If they are 10 years old they are probably dry rotted and would not hold air if they were inflated.
That might be best. I'll arm them tomorrow while outside.
I removed the 2 cyclinders to check for numbers, they are different. The little green tag is a pale tan color.
One is a Leland, made in japan. 23 grams #84203, dated 01-94 printed on cylinder.
No name on the other, made in Germany, 23 grams #ISI/34203, dated 04-95 stamped in cylinder.
This is the first time they have been out of the packages.
If I were you I would start over. The flotation bag in those things is vinyl. You're asking a lot for them to still be safe.
I know mine work well because they'll go off in the dry boxes of the boat due to the humidity down here late summer. I keep extra arming kits because of this. Well, I should say, Ann keeps them. She's good at re-arming them.
Jimmy, you should have a hose in there to just blow them up to test. Blow up as tight as you can get them.
Charlie, Thank you. I didn't open it up enough to see the hose. I've got a compressor, wonder what I'll need to air the PFD up?
it just my way of thinking considering the age of the pfd I would fill much more safer arming it the way it would if I went overboard then manually , rather then blowing it up to see if it holds air !!! who is to say it will work the way it is design to its never been used !!! if was me I would look into buying new ones !!! just my :twocents
That hose should have a black valve on the end. Should be made where you push it back to the hose to open valve. Made so you can blow it up if the canister dosnt work, safety feature. Should be able to hold the valve open and blow up bladders with a air blower. One of those with the rubber tip. Just make sure to go easy and not over inflate. And at their age I might fill the tub and put them in and hold under water to check for leaks. Also check to make sure the inflation valve does not leak.
64 bux divided by 10 years is 6.40 per year. Get some new ones that aren't Obsolete. You're life is worth waaaay more than that. Don't gamble with it!!!!!
Oh yeah, you said they were only 5 bux on clearance. Wonder why? It's a No brainer!!!!!!!
I've bought a lot of stuff on clearance from them in the past. Try to figure out why it was reduced so much back then compared to their little bit of savings now. Why not transfer it to another store that will sell it. Why not send it back to the warehouse and back to the producer. Here's some savings I got over the years.
Rebel brand lead sinkers 0.05 per pack, reg price about $1. Could be an epa rule.
Shotgun shells 0.50, 0.75, $1 per box, reg price $4 to $10. Could be epa rule, there was lead, copper coated, steel and copper jacket slugs.

250 ft of 14-2 with gd romax $5.
Jimmy.....you ought to change your handle to Bargain Hunter lol
Jimmy, the reason they do it that way is to get it out of stock to bring in new product. With the cost of transportation, people handling it and no storage space they loose less money discounting and getting rid of it. Spent 5 years working with them, was service manager for Bentonville and Sercey taking care of their trucks. Worked right there at the warehouses with their transportation and warehousing managers. Hard to understand what a logistic undertaking it is just to get new product into and out of warehouses to keep stores stocked.
Charlie, I can agree with that.
The locomotives have printed circuit boards. When they were updated the old style went into the trash. I found out that a small one, about the size of a cell phone cost $500 to $1,000. The largest was about the size of the CDC calander cost $4,000. to $11,000. The company would buy them back at 50%, do an update and resell. A burnt board was trashed. The company would buy them back at 20 to 30%.
I received $100 for this recycling idea.
Dollar saved is a Dollar Earned!
I don't know why it double posted. I got a window, leave page or stay on page. I clicked leave.
Thanks G.
I pulled the cord on the 2 PFD before I left about noon, they are still up and feel good. Now to find the right rearm kit.
