I haven't heard of that. They did have a heated dock yeaars ago but it burnt down and was never rebuilt. As far as I know, the docks are strictly for those who rent slips.
No public fishing allowed. You have to rent a slip to be able to fish anywhere below the hill.
Redbud leased addition distance around there dock maybe 300 ft. so you can not fish even close to there docks. I will not buy anything from them. Hope this doe not spread to other lakes!!!
I thought Oolagah was an Army Corp Lake. If it is then the alleged leasing of additional footage around the docks may be in question, legally. As the Army Corp would have to be the lessor. I guess checking with the Corp Office would answer the question.
2 or 3 years back I asked one of the park Rangers about this very thing and he told me they didn't have the man power to enforce it, for what it's worth.
About 2 years ago I came from the East and did not see any signs posted. Was fishing along side one of the docks, a man called a woman from marine office. She came out and advised me of the lease and we talked about it. Upon leaving the lake I went to corp.of eng. office the young lady was only one in office and she advised me that they had indeed lease that area. How do you fight someone who s trying to block everyone out of his fishing hole on a PUBLIC LAKE?????
How about starting with our US Congressman and US Senator, after determining the lease is still in effect. This is the same as leasing part of Yellowstone for private use. Unheard of.
Same thing at other places too
well that's too bad. I was hoping to be able to take my 3 yr old daughter there so I didn't have to fuss with her in the boat. Not a lot of kid friendly places for fishing this time of year where you can actually catch a crappie from the bank.
even if they had a day use fee, I'd pay it to not have to hassle with my boat. Business opportunity for them if they would. I don't see why they wouldn't open a new heated dock, or even an unheated one. I'd still pay the day use fee. I go to Bernice over on grand lake a few times every winter. $4 or $6 for 24 hours, Seems fair for the comfort and convenience. I see 5-10 people on average when I'm there. Seems like it could be a good way to make the Marina extra cash.
Reaper, was that you who was yelling at me from your truck going down 169 a few weeks ago between Oologah and Talala?
The Park at Hawthorn Bluff just north of Dan has a real nice outside fishing dock that is baited and out of south wind. Is also some good bank fishing area in that cove.
I live close to the Ramp on Talala Creek.
