Just checked my pond drilled 3 holes from 5 ft- 20ft. Ice was 5.5 to 6 in thick.
Crab orchard was 2" today.
Gonna try tomarrow. Might just be fishing off the dock at lake argyle
I don't know for sure around here, I will have to check with my bro-in-law tomorrow and will let ya know.
I'll check here tomorrow , I'll bet atleast 4" hasn't been much above zero all week
Rule number one for ice fishing--Let your heavy friend lead the way.
Hey Jerry, I resemble that remark.
I wont have a day off till weds. but ill probably give a pond i got permission to fish a check. Ill post when i know something solid.
Lake mattoon has 4-6"

Caught plenty of fish today on pond today but ther all too small still
Ice 4 inches on smaller lakes at Jim Edgar today.
found a pond with 4.5 inches. Shelby is dropping. the edge and what's on the bank is a couple inches. further out it's thicker. I'm not going out on it! but I did see 2 guys out on Shelby today. watch the current. ice will be thinner where the river channel swings in
Between 4 and 6 on lake Argyle. Some trout but couldn't find crappie
our pond is 5-6 inches thick right now. today's rain will weaken it until it super-freezes again. Everyone be careful.
Had 6" today
5-6" on our family pond on Sunday.
Got out to pond on wed. and had a bout 6" of ice. The pond is very shallow and has bass bluegill and catfish but nonono crappies. ended up catching two or three nice bass and a couple decent bluegill.with a couple nice bass coming off at the bottom of ice.
They have a 9 in limit on crappie. Max of 10. It is tough to get all 10. There are some really nice gills, saugeye, and the cat fishing is good. Don't do a lot of bass fishing myself but there are always a lot of guys hammering the banks.
Not sure how far it is for you but spring lake is 15-20 min from argyle. No limit on crappie (you can find some big ones off the main chanel or troll from the dock to the pump house and down to the dam on the drop off and pick up a ton of mid sized fish), big strippers and some nice cats, and if wiu is in lots of sunbathing. Between the 2 usually can have a good day[emoji2]
I go there spring lake that is early in the spring Muskie and crappie , that's spring lake by sand ridge state Forrest
I'm talking about spring lake just outside of Macomb. They have some muskie in there too
Anyone been out on the ice
I went to Banner Marsh this evening, and have been several times in the past 3 weeks. I have always had at least 4" but mostly 5 to 7". You need ice creepers as there is very little or no snow on the ice. Unless it warms up and rains, there will probably be safe ice at least until March 1st. I have caught many short crappies, small gills and a 4# LMB. I have seen other people catch a few 10 to 15" crappies and some nice cats, but none for me. The LMB was absolutly delicious!
Only been out on banner once. Stayed at a camp ground there, rice I think? Picked the day they hand out duck blind spots in the morning. And there was a bass tournament that day. Didn't do well at all. I hear there are some nice crappie there tho
There are some nice slabs at banner if you know where to go. PM me in he spring boys we will go Its 15 minutes from the house
We have 12" on the upper and 9" on the lower. At lake camelot that is
